Compressor on Series 60 14L, '03 Freightliner, air leak to coolant.

I changed head gaskets, before I did plate resurfasing and... air in coolant in 5 minutes after start, when coolant is over 60 dgr C.

Need some suggestions... any tips, gentelmen!

Did you bypass the air comp completely out of the cooling system? Other than a head gasket or cracked liner nothing else comes to mind right now

Yes, I did it first. I got CO2 detector and checkes CO2 in coolant, no CO2- so this is air leak, not EGR coolar ore cyl head gasket, so I bypassed air compressor. No bubbles in overflow reservour.

I cant imagine any place but the air comp head.
When you bypassed the air comp the bubbles stop.
So we can safely assume it is the air comp where the air comes from.
Only once temp at 60 dgr C (140F).
    Gasket and surfaces good.
I can think of only 2 possibilities.

    (1) Insufficient clamp from head bolts.

    (2) Hair line crack in compressor head.

hey!! pablo do you check the valve is in the sleeper ?the freightliners have a valve that can open and close the heater with the air, when this fails the air goes to the water and it seems like is the head!! well that's a opinion :biggrin_25521:

I can remember seen that in another thread now that you mention it.
Where I'm from we don't have the cold weather you guys do so we don't have all these things like block heaters , heaters for the sleeper etc.
Can't say 'm sorry about it.

I do not think so, pressure is too high, coolant blown out with air. it is like a cyl. head crack
