Bendix ABS Diagnostic Tool

    Pablo, Was working in a truck with a Bendix EC-30 today. I started the diagnostics a couple of days ago. ECU was bad, and no brake data. Replaced the ECU, and everything powered up perfect. Once i seen that I used the little scanner and it showed same thing as the LED's that left wheel speed sensor was bad. Wish I could send you this thing, for a generic scanner, it really does work well.

    Ok, about ACOM
    Really it is US version of Knorr-Bremse ECU Talk.

    It is collection of programs for every Knorr ore Bendix control modul.

    I installed both US and EU verions on my laptop and I can see two pages of ECU list in starter menu. US and EU trucks share some units, some are unique for different markets, like TABS with trailer can ore with PLC.

    24V units are rare in USA, in EU they use both.

    Pablo. I finally finished my ABS fix. Turned out to be easy, but time consuming as they changed the design of the EC-30 module. Original one had bolts through it to the top of the valve, and they had corroded to the valve. Ended up just using a dremel and cutting the bolts from the top of the valve, and using devpro to mount a flat steel plate to the top of the valve. From there screwed my mounting holes through the bracket. Looks nice and clean, just a headache, but cheaper than the hundred bucks international wanted for a bracket, plus i was able to leave the broken studs in the valve.

    All of this led to being able to test drive the truck with the little scanner. It read road speed, told me what the settings were, and the sensors on the truck. Under live data it only showed me an active or inactive/error for the sensors on the truck. Stop, and showed as not active, move and showed as active. Only reason I did this is I cleaned wires and tried to push the sensor in from the rear. I wanted to see if it was getting any data, or internittent data. No luck. Looks like I gotta pull the dual tomorrow and replace the sensor. So this unit will read Bendix and Merritior Wabco codes and data. Will try the newer Detroits next week if I get some time. From what I have read though, only way to reset the EC-30 after it is fixed is with the magnet, code reader will not do it. Will try anyways, but not hoping for much. Kind of like the Volvo bulkhead and body codes. I have to have Volvo reset them.

    As a little scanner u can use dashboard computer

    every truck instrumental cluster reads MID PID SID codes... ANd SPN codes too.

    The only truck that throws message - CHECK BRAKES and no code is Paccar truck (LOL -- DAF, KW, Pete)!

    Other can read fault codes

    Exiled, Good question. The ScanGauge and the reader are two different tools. I do have a ScanGuage in the truck I drive. It did not have an information screen, and I wanted to be able to read codes, and engine information. The codes in Scan Gauges are PID's so you need to keep a cheat sheet in the glove box from Google for your engine to reference what the code means. It will also read Instant MPG, and let you chose what engine data you want to display. Mine is in my Pete Transfer dump truck and trailer. I set it to read Avg. MPG, Boost, MPH and engine load, so I can drive for mileage. It will also only and read codes for engine data.
    It is also capable of clearing (erasing engine codes). Basically it is just like the information screen you get when you buy a truck with a few more customizable features.

    The CRHD I reviewed will read Engine, Transmission an Antilock brake system codes for US trucks. The nice thing is it will also include a generic definition of what the code is on the screen with the code. It will also read the data streams so you can see what the problem is. I used it to fix a Bendix anti lock brake system, and the code was left rear wheel sensor. I was able to drive the truck and watch the other wheel sensors turn off and on as I drove the truck. I than replaced the sensor as it was in very bad shape. I than checked the wiring as the problem was still there, and completed the repair. It will clear brake codes for Merritor Wabco anti lock brake systems, but you still need to use the magnet to reset the unit to clear the codes on the EC30 ABS system.
    It will also allow you to graph sensors for intermittent problems. Unlike its Big Brother units, you can not do injector cut out tests or activate things remotely through the unit. I have had this for about a month, and it is our go to unit in the shop for repairing our trucks. It is small, easy to read, and will get you in the right direction of a repair very quickly. I will post a couple screen shots for you below. Was the best 130.00 I have spent in a long time.

    He has launch for trucks and cars.

    Surelly as pocket hand handle tool it solves over 80% of tasks, for more sufisticated deals he uses laptop with genue programs
