I have a relatively new truck and it seemed as if it was clean when I picked it up. Unfortunately, I think I may have bed bugs in the sleeper. I don't know how to tackle the problem since I'm sure they're in everything at this point (clothes, duffel bags, towels, sheets, mattress, blanket). What is the best way to get rid of them? I don't want to bring these suckers home.

The company would be buying me a new mattress......and everything else getting washed at a laundry mat....Yuck!

I would place everything in plastic storage containers and leave them outside. One container at a time place into a plastic bag and fumigate.

Then take containers one by one to a laundromat and remove clothes carefully to a washing machine.

It won't change the fact that they can come in your home on the clothes your wearing too. Be careful about that because once they're in your home it can get out of hand.

And the sleeper mattress needs to be burned so no one else will use it after you chuck it.

just get one of those plastic mattress covers. They wont spread or other you as soon as you put it on and they will all be dead with in a month. Wash clothing in hot water. Vacuum carpet with a good vacuum thoroughly.

Years ago as a company driver i could not believe some of the doors i opened, when assigned a truck..I look back and see how the Carriers did not give a rats ### about the driver..

I opened doors that had 5 piss bottles on the floor, skid marks on the mattress and flies buzzing around..2 inches of dust on the dash board and smelling like a week old Lot Lizzard..Buggers on the window and brake chambers held up with bungy cords..This was NOT the pictures you sent me in the Application and BOOKLET..:biggrin_2554:.Once again i was HAD...

The ''sales pitch'' back then was,''It has a chrome bumper and two shiny stacks''...:biggrin_2551:...

Truly Disgusting.I would then demand a new truck or better truck. There were times i took a greyhound back to NY and told them to get ######,i am not agreeing to sleep in that nasty environment.....It is just UNPROFESSIONAL and NASTY how they treat some of the so-called ''professional drivers''..

No sooner when i got on that greyhound, they found a driver that agreed to live in this Squander.I could not believe a driver could agree to that...

My son and I were going to a racing event a couple of months back and we stopped in a petro travel plaza to eat breakfast early in the morning on a sunday. There was a driver lined up for the buffet that was just a filthy pig. He looked as if he hadn't showered in months, filthy sweat pants and tee shirt and a ball cap that so dirty that you could barely make out the "Werner" on the hat. There were several people in the restaurant that were travelers and it made me think what their impression of the industry was? If this guy took care of himself that way, imagine the inside of his truck? Bed bugs might be the most desirable thing in his sleeper

The carrier should be buying new mattresses instead of recycling them. I would toss that mattress in the dumpster in a heartbeat. Then use the top mattress until you get another one. They don't cost like $50 even if you had to buy your own.

Luckily in my life I never had to deal with bedbugs or ####roaches. There are some pigs out there. They tend to follow nasty around.

I can say many bad things about my last company but one thing the shop done was keep a stock room full of mattresses. Have you even asked your shop? Tell your dispatcher so they can route you back.

There's Fred, Joe, Steve, Bugsy...... we play poker on Saturday nights! :)

Exactly!! all most, Bed bugs cant be washed away, I get a company truck and it has bed bugs! My 1st call is to the company, telling them "you need to get me back to the terminal ASAP", your paying for motel rooms, until I get there, you will be taking everything out of this truck, mattress and all, buying me all new EVERYTHING, It may not be the companies fault that the truck has bed bugs, some drivers are just plain nasty, but they have a obligation to have the truck thoroughly checked and cleaned for the next driver to get in it.

Heat is best. If u can heat up inside truck to 120 degrees for a few hours that should do it.
