It is time to change batteries now. So I got a choise - Gel ore Acid. People say gel batts are beter, but they wont working at below zere temperatures so what about idea to mix two acid and two gel in one box?

The gel batteries have a different charging rate and profile than a regular acid battery and mixing them in the same box would probably make for an uneven load, which would then probably wear out one or the other type of battery. Kind of like putting in one new battery in the set, instead of replacing them all.

AGM is the way to go. Works in hot and cold.

AGM.... too expencive. Seems to me I'll stay with acid. The problem of acid that there are no really maintanace free batts. Anyway driver has to add distiled water, especially when it is hot and many drivers do it when they have to find someone to help with jump start and it is usually in winter when it is late to do it, batteries are bad..... Gel needs less attention.

I have an idea to add box with two batteries for cab and sleeper only. I wanna separate them from other truck with big relay (200A from aircraft). Relay is closed when engine is running (I wanna use alternator D+ output). All sleeper systems would be powered with additional batteries (light, TV, radio, auxially heater, electric A/C and invertor). It is a good alternative apu.....

Something that often gets over looked is the battery connections that will hurt a battery in series as much as anything, by over charging a battery and cooking it.
keep them clean and it will help them live longer.
