The gel batteries have a different charging rate and profile than a regular acid battery and mixing them in the same box would probably make for an uneven load, which would then probably wear out one or the other type of battery. Kind of like putting in one new battery in the set, instead of replacing them all.

Yep, I understand) thanx for info)

AGM is the way to go. Works in hot and cold.

AGM.... too expencive. Seems to me I'll stay with acid. The problem of acid that there are no really maintanace free batts. Anyway driver has to add distiled water, especially when it is hot and many drivers do it when they have to find someone to help with jump start and it is usually in winter when it is late to do it, batteries are bad..... Gel needs less attention.

It sounds like you made up your mind.

I have an idea to add box with two batteries for cab and sleeper only. I wanna separate them from other truck with big relay (200A from aircraft). Relay is closed when engine is running (I wanna use alternator D+ output). All sleeper systems would be powered with additional batteries (light, TV, radio, auxially heater, electric A/C and invertor). It is a good alternative apu.....

My batteries last more then 5 y and i do only short regional(starting the engine 30 to 50 times per day) -
Something that often gets over looked is the battery connections that will hurt a battery in series as much as anything, by over charging a battery and cooking it.
keep them clean and it will help them live longer. -
OMG, Truck is back and what do I see? Lost nuts and only one battery connected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, truck starts with one battery!
