Battery Jump box lifespan?
Does anyone get more than two years out of these things? Kept this one inside the truck & used it maybe a dozen or so times. Held a charge great over the 2 year span & still looks new. The brand on this one was Clore JNC660 'Jump-N-Carry' 1,700 Peak Amp 12-Volt Jump Starter.
About $130 online. Just tired of buying them & just seeing if anyone else is getting more life out of theirs.

I've had mine about 7 years now, still works good but does seem like it doesn't hold a charge as long as it used to. but was pretty pricey, 600 I think. Got it from a local mac tool guy.

Just about every shop I've ever worked in has had a jump-n-carry of some model. Had one in the tow trucks I drove also. The difference here is, we always had them charging when not in use, or when off shift in the tow. How often do you charge the box up?
Might try to charge it at night if you're home nightly, and see if that brings some life back. You might also be able to get the battery changed, or try for a warranty. If memory serves correct, jnc had a decent warranty.LBZ Thanks this. -
Schumacher psj-2212 This is the best jump box in my opinion. Especially for the money. Had mine two years and still ticking I think my boss is on three years. I never plug it in to charge it I just leave it hooked up to a vehicle running now and then for ten minutes or so.

"This unit has a sealed lead-acid battery that should be kept at full charge. Recharge when first purchased, immediately after each use, and every three months if not used.
Failure to perform maintenance charges may cause the battery life to be reduced
greatly.
I only charged them when needed or rarely thinking they were like other battery based products that needed to be ran down.
So evidently all that ink that is those manuals may have been worth reading 2 years ago.
That Schumacher 2212 is what the dealer had & that I had to borrow to get their truck off my trailer yesterday.Badcable Thanks this. -
I have a Jump and Carry that is 8 or 9 years old, if you keep them charged they last a long time. If your battery dies you can get a replacement battery for about $25 at Batteries Plus or thru an Exide retailer and they are easy to change out. I have another 600 amp model I have had since 1997, changed the battery twice since then and it works great.

Really long cables are worth keeping in the strap box as well - especially for those pesky fails on the overhead !

To replace with Clores specific battery via that store was $326.Crossed referenced the number to something of theirs & it was $83 for a AGM replacement. That was the only option given. Was hoping to get it in there for under $50, but still saved $50 instead of buying new.

I guess the price has gone up, last time I replaced my battery was about 3 years ago. Glad you found a replacement battery.
