Battery issues (2019 Freightliner)....

Id say only replacing 2 batteries is the root cause... If one is bad replace them all, its just less head ache that way. Oh yeah, use good expensive batteries... Not the El-Cheapo truck stop repair shop batteries.

As far as the portable jump box goes... Ive known a few guys that had them and said they worked... But I've had times where even a heavy duty diesel pickup had to run at high idle for an hour or more while jumping truck batteries before the dead semi would fire. If I were to get a portable jump box it would be the biggest, most powerful, most expensive one I could find.

 

We had a similar issue with a similar truck but a day cab. No inverter or disconnect. Replaced all batteries the first go round but and the problem returned a month or two later. One of the new batteries went bad and was killing the other three. One bad battery can kill the others new or old. It is still good 8 months later. It is a really local truck. Never travels over 40 miles and sits for days at a time.
There are other things to check if it repeats with new batteries.
Some companies have major gas engine powered boost units. I have never had the privilege of one of those. Saw a company with 4 truck batteries in the service truck and a fork lift plug for jumping. When jumping as Cattleman mentioned hook the cables on the truck being jumped to the studs on the starter. That helps a lot. If it does not want to turn over stop. Boost vehicle at 12-1500 RPM for 5 minutes and try it again. Repeat as needed. Standing on the starter button is of no use.

 

Batteries in a group are only as good as the weakest battery. 1 weak battery will draw them all down.

 

I have surly been on a thousand plus service calls. Glad that worked for you. I have smoked a few alternators doing that. Just shared what worked best for me.

 

A hood compact 12/24 volt jump pack is worth its weight. Especially in winter. A good one with lithium ion batteries is going to cost $400-700 though.

How are doing everyone? I want to ask that I have 2019 Freightliner Cascadia and 2017 Freightliner Cascadia I want to interchange the batteries of both trucks with each other. Can I do that? Are batteries size same of both trucks? Please guide me.
