I was an over the road driver for a good respectable company. I was aproached by a man from Barnhart asking me if I would be interested in working local for them.
I was interested thinking I would enjoy being home every night. They promissed 50 hours a week wether you worked 50 or not. Well that never happened in fact I barley got paid for 20 hours a week the whole tome I worked for them. I started noticing that they were shorting me hours every week. Well finally I gave up on them and quit I had enough of them taking advantage of my skill and then not paying me for it. I've been driving for 23 years now and should have known if it sounds to good to be true it probably is'nt. All I can say is that watch what companies out there promiss you. Chances are if they have to look for employee's, they have a high turn over rate and there has to be a reason for that. I made a big mistake leaving a company where I was making excellent money and got home every weekend and beleaving someone that makes promisses that were too good to be true.

Bluecoat don't feel bad I been there done that. in my earlier years of trucking I not only did it once but twice before I learned to take my time and talk to several people who work or have worked there. the being home every night thing will draw you in like a magnet. good luck to you.

I too have made that mistake. Went to work for a local O/O leased on to Venture so I could be home every night. What a disaster! Live and learn.

Big lesson here. Never believe what a recruiter tells you, especially if it's anything to the effect of getting paid for 50 hours a week whether you actually work it or not.
