Just picked one of these up to check swr and I was wondering if it makes a difference which connection you hook the antenna to and which you hook the patch cable to since it doesn't say on the back or in any documentation.
    Thanks!

As a rule the antenna goes on the outside so-239 connector ( LOAD ) and the jumper to the radio on the one more or less in the center.

I have a simular one with the antenna matcher it is not bad for 30 bucks ....

Yeah mine has the antenna matcher as well and power in 1 or 10 or 100 increments.

If you hook it up backward it will read extremely high SWR no matter what.

Bruce, you may have stumbled onto something there. If we could just get the match to < 1:1 we may be in the realm of room temperature fusion & free energy. Think of the boon to radio ops everywhere if we could increase their power output and RX gain with a passive device, and a $30 one at that!

Line forms behind us hams for the licensing rights ;)

Reminds me of a APRIL Story in a radio mag about a passive linear amp.

You run 6 inch hard line into RG-174 it compresses the radio field and the waves come out of the RG-174 with great force ( just like water out of a fire hose ) and you were LOUD and proud :yes2557:

What a piece of #### this turned out to be. It was so far off it wasn't even funny.
I tuned with this and when I was done my antenna light came on when I keyed the mic. I called the place I got it and they refunded the money on my card and said keep the meter! lol

I went all out now and got this...http://www.bellscb.com/products/testequipment/Daiwa/Daiwa_CN-801HP.htm

How much power were you running when you tested the SWR? If you tuned it with really low power, then the antenna light came on with more power, chances are pretty good your mount isn't grounded very well, or you have a bad coax/stud, etc. Or the antenna light in your radio isn't right, they're notoriously bad.
