Anyone have any info on Bancroft and Sons Transportation out of Grand Prairie Texas?
Me and another guy currently work for the same company and our hours have been cut so we were thinking of teaming up and running with these guys for a bit.
Basically I'm wondering what the pay is like and home time? On the site they say home every couple days and most runs are dedicated but I know that usually isn't always accurate.
Thanks for any info.

Figured i would bump this up for one more try.

I had a friend working there off and on. He said they paid $16hr last I heard. I'd be kinda worried of going to work for them and then being laid off after the Christmas season. I'm sure this is what they are hiring for. They probably ship a lot of packages between now and december. The post office that they haul for isn't doing well.

Thanks, I ended up going with Con-Way LTL and really enjoy working there.

I tried to get on there at Con-Way, but still haven't heard nothing.

I'm in my 3rd week now, took about 2 weeks from when I put in my app to when I started training. As long as you got doubles/triples and hazmat and no serious violations in the past year or so should have got a call back.
Maybe you should call up there and ask, I believe they are still hiring.
This is the Dallas location I'm talking about though, at Common Wealth and Irving Blvd. -
I got no call, but now I got Bancroft calling me. Hope its still decent. I'll find out soon.

Here's the deal with Bancroft. Very screwy and they basically lied to me or misconstrued the truth is the better way to put it. I believe I am still better off working here, but just a little. It would be a decent deal if my wife worked somewhere where they had health insurance. No wonder 26% of Texans don't have health insurance.
Bancroft pays drivers an hourly rate. That happens to be around $21hr. Sometimes less. They pay $4.16hr up to 40 hours to your health plan. So for example if you have a run that pays 50 hours you will get $24hr up to 40 hours and then $21hr for the remaining 10 hours. They do not subsidize the health insurance that they offer their employees. THey charge $90 for an individual and $274 for a family per week. There are some other options, but I'm sure that would cover most people. Basically for me it is cheaper to just buy my own health insurance or start a HSA. The cost for health insurance is $500 a month and the HSA is anywhere from $200-$300 a month plus having to fund a HSA account for anything up to the deductible amount. I've never heard of a company like this. I don't know if all mail contractors work like this, but it seems very sheisty.
Consistent pay is what I am looking for. It sounds like they have that.Last edited: Sep 29, 2009

I just looked at their web site, not much info on there. Do they only hire local drivers?
I don't want to waste the time to fill out an app if they don't hire from AZ. -
