any driver recommend a good company to run with at the ports or rails in the baltimore area ? Research tells me the rails are quicker to get in and out of, so leaning more towards them. trying to run under company authority to keep cost down. any info would be appreciated. Don"t come across to many containers in my travels to ask for drivers input. Thanks.

Company called Cti.. stands for commercial transportation inc. They pull more rail yard freight. It's on north point boulevard.

The ports aren't as bad as they were. Rail yard is open 24/7 so you aren't so rushed and your load is already mounted. Look up csx, last I heard they were looking. It's hard to do only rail you'll be in one of the other ports as well. You could get lucky and only do rail. Good luck.

Yeah but csx is looking for o/o only. They don't have company drivers.

oh well you options for rail only are very limited being a company driver. You need to find someone who owns several trucks that are leased to an intermodal company and drive one of his trucks. maybe you should get your feet wet and just go for a container company to get your feet in the door then you start hearing about things and see which companies are going into the rail yard a lot. they only thing really bad about the ports are the chassis.

White Marsh Transport, you might do containers or dry van, might get a nice truck or a POS, might make great money or not make squat. I worked there twice, some guys made great money and had nice trucks, others got stuck in junk and made half as much, dispatch could make or break you. Ringer transport hauls cans, as well as OST.

in looking at some of the posts I've read I see some drivers are concerned about chassis and with good reason, the port chassis are junk, I went out last year and bought brand new chassis that will hol a 20ft or a 40 ft, saves a lot of time at the port
