Im thinking about changing and using baldwin fuel filters. im gettin tired of the hit and miss of fleetguard filters. i just had to change the fuel/water separator cause it was plugging up. it had only 9000 miles on it. i know i saw on here somewhere that u can buy the filters by the case and i was wondering where to get them from. i was thinking it was said that u can order them from baldwin but i looked at the website and didnt see any way to order them.

We use Baldwin, we get them from FleetPride mostly, but many places carry them.

what is the actual micron rating on the fuel filter you are using. I was getting 6-9 weeks on the Detroit filters and about 2-3 weeks on a Wix. Then I learned the Detroits were 30 micron and the Wix were 5 micron ratings.

I am looking to put on a second filter with a spin-on 30 micron and leave the 5 micron on the Davco filter on my truck.

Baldwin filters are made in a plant owned by Fleetguard( Cummins filtration)

Mndriver.... there are no 5 micron filters made by any mfg for Davco F/W sep 2,7.10.25 and 50 micron only
if you have proof otherwise please post mfg and part #

I have been using Donaldson filters for everything for quite a few years now. I am using the 7 micron P550467 in my Davco on my Series 60. Got 40,000 miles on the last one. Changed it when I got truck serviced last week, and it still had a way to go before it actually was all used up. Didn't change it out on the previous service. I usually get these filters online at Ryder Fleet Products for around $10 each.

It would also appear I am going to have a word with my parts guy too. As he was telling me that Wix 33651 is a 5 micron. It's not, it's a 10 micron.

Other filter I use is the Detroit 23521528. I'll have to check the others when I get back home for the numbers.

We have switched over to Baldwin from FG. The Baldwins have a better looking oring seal on them compared to FG.

I have the davco 380 & using donaldson my filter would last about 15-20 thousand. with detroit it would last at least twice as long. the detroit filt was less than 1/2 price of the donaldson. not sure if the donaldson filtered better, catching more water/trash & therefore needing changing sooner or not. I do not know the the microns of each filt, but my detroit part # is 23521528 & my donaldson is 550463
