Hello fellow truckers. I've been chasing an issue with my backup alarm and backup lights on my truck for some time now . Problem is when I'm driving forward my backup alarm and lights go off and on and, sometimes even when Im parked with truck in neutral and park brake engaged . It gets worse when I get the truck washed . I've checked wires on frame rails going to the back of the truck and found nothing wrong. I went through 2 back up switches on transmission. Have also changed the transmission shifter. The issue still persists. Because of this I put an aftermarket light to use as backup lights for which I have a switch in the cab and disconnected the alarm. Dont know what to do now please guide I want it to work normally. Truck is a 2020 PB 567 with eaton auto 10 spd .
Thanks in advance

I have not seen this exact problem yet. The reveres switch is normally open and closes contacts when reverse is engaged. You likely have an intermittent short to power on the reverse circuit somewhere on the chassis.
-
Is it possible that its ECU related ?
It doesn't do it all the time . -
Maybe try a jumper wire from reverse switch to backup alarm and disconnect the original power going to alarm and make sure there’s good contact for ground. This would eliminate any bad wire between reverse switch and alarm. I just had trouble with a bad ground for backup alarm and lights and it causing different issues with backup lights and alarm.

You may have a chassis module that sitting on the frame outside the cab.
If you have a problem with water getting into the connector, then this would be the cause.Dera209 Thanks this. -

Thank you all for lots of useful information here. I'm going to wait until the weekend to look into it. I will also have my buddy this time with me, he's pretty good at dignosing electronics and I will be sharing all this information with him that all of you provided. I will be back with an update. Until then please keep sharing your thoughts on this . I appreciate you all very much.

Worked on it t today . Found the backup alarm chasis module. Tested the connectors and found nothing wrong. I was hoping messing with the wires on frame rail would make it come on but nothing . Even hosed off the wiring on the frame rail and backup switch . Couldn't replicate the issue like it happened while at truck wash. I'm going to see if I can get wiring diagram from the dealership and go from there. .
Magoo1968 Thanks this.
