Background check and time frame to get a TWIC card?

    Can any of you please tell me how long it takes to get your TWIC card? I have a Hazmat endorsement already, will I have to pay for another background check also?

    Yes you have to Pay for a background check. takes about 3 weeks for them to let you know that your card is in and ready for p/u.... cost about $136.00

    The 3 weeks sounds about right. I have been told they will now mail it to you?????? Don't know, maybe rumor.

    I got mine when they first started requiring it, At that time if you had a hazmat then it was a lower cost. I didnt so nit was the $134. It took one trip for the application, picture, etc and another trip after the card came in. When you pick the card up they scan it and you put in a PIN number, so I doubt if they are mailing out the cards
