Don’t even try to pass through Smuggler’s Notch on VT Route 108 – the GPS is wrong!

"Anuez advised he ignored several signs that are posted stating tractor trailers are prohibited, as he was following his GPS. Multiple bystanders attempted to stop Anuez from entering the Notch, however he continued. The road was closed for several hours until Charlebois Towing removed the truck and trailer. Anuez was issued two tickets carrying a combined monetary fine of $3,544."

Driver - " I saw the signs, but decided to ignore them" . State of Vermont - "oh really, the fine is now $10,000!"

I still am trying to figure out how that would be a shortcut to anywhere, even if you could make it.

Blindly following a GPS is a recipe for disaster. Even a trucking GPS. Those will generally keep you clear of low bridges and parkways but will still try to send you down roads you don't really have business being on in a commercial vehicle.

I've seen the signs for that road...it's clearly marked. Stupidity knows no bounds.

They need to install a zig zag at the very beginning , as a gatekeeper . If you can’t fit through the gatekeeper then you can’t fit through the road .

we did that at a popular jeep trail near us .
It had a very difficult spot to traverse , and folks were always getting stuck there and blocking the trail for hours .
So we installed some rocks at the entrance of the trail . If you can’t get over the rocks at the entrance , then you can’t get past the difficult section that’s miles in .

The ignorance of “new Americans/Canadians” on display.

I’ve bicycled through the notch. I don’t even comprehend being up there, in a semi.
