Thanks to our National Child Support System I now have the Roehl Avesis Vision Insurance. Don't need it, don't want it, however since I live in the land of the free I have no choice but to pay for it for a couple more years. Seems like between that system and Obamacare our freedom to select health care continues to be taken away.

So might as well get and exam and some readers I guess. I have provider choices of RX Optical, SVS Vision, Meijer Vision, and Walmart/Sams Club locally. It appears I have $10 copay for the exam and another $10 for the glasses.

Has anyone used this insurance and or had any experiences, good or bad? Might be useful to others who have the insurance.

Follow up to this. I contacted Avesis and found out where I could go. There were plenty of local places here in Grand Rapids that took the insurance. I choose Sams Club as I figured they would be the least expensive for the frames and lenses. They fit me in the same day for the appointment.

Total out of pocket cost for a set of frames, lenses, and the exam was $55.00 which included the $20 copay. The extra $35 was for some antiglare thing that they were selling and pushed hard. I really don't need them to drive but was told they will help if I'm reading maps, paperwork, etc..., especially at night.

so if you need glasses, the insurance seemed to work quite well and is good once per year per person. There were plenty of frames to select from within the approved insurance amount. I had no problem using it. takes about 1-2 weeks for glasses to come in.
