I've started considering asking my company for a salary because they pay well but week to week can be up and down. I've been having lots of weeks over $2,000 but then some in between at $1,500 or less. I thought $2,000 a week would be fair and just let it all work out. Looking at Indeed they seem to think team drivers make $3,100 a week and regular drivers make $1,200. In your experience with modern day trucking what would you say is a decent average salary? Pay has been going up across the board at the big companies.

Honestly I think Indeed got their wires crossed for team pay.

Kind of annoying working the same amount but getting less pay because they decided to give you a lower paying load on percentage.

Do you think $72k a year is fair? Cause that’s what ur making at $1500 per week. Factor in any benefits and that’s pretty good.

The last few years were around 90,000. Lots of company drivers talking about making well into six figures at the megas. This probing for different takes.

You say "we're"... So are you a team?

As a solo driver I have made anywhere between $500 a week to about $2200 a week. That was between 6 and 20 years ago (I bought a truck 6 years ago).

Food service probably pays the best, but its a lot of work (and the shorter you are the better). LTL is probably next best. There are some LTL that hire teams also. If I ever sold my truck, I would go back to LTL work personally.

Sorry, that was a autocorrect mistake from were. I've said in other threads that technically I'm LTL flatbed regional. Home pretty much every week and around home usually twice a week doing two trips. This year I am regularly making over $2,000 a week but the winter slow down and the odds and ends routes end up bringing my average down.

I got one word for you, 'budget'.
Learn it, love it, do it and you won't have any short weeks.

Currently have $24,000 available to me so I'm not hurting at all. That doesn't mean I have to be content with what I'm making, or the inconsistency in pay that hides overall lower income.

Probably be easier to ask for a raise than it would be to change your pay structure. If they do accept your offer of $2k a week salary are you prepared to stick with that if all the sudden more work comes your way?

Hard to do more work than I currently do. I do the work that needs to be done regardless. Certainly I would make sure that there are turns to allow for renegotiation and maybe annual increases/evaluations.

Honestly I'm not seeing any comments on the main point which is what is the average trucker pay. Is Indeed correct or off base? It sure seems like it should be at least $100,000.

    truck driver weekly pay

If you get a salary be prepared to do a lot of little trailer moves or such until your HOS are used up because your pay is limited to the salary.
