would it be realistic to average $700 to $800 a week with this company? i know it depends on fm's, fleets, time of year and the unforseen breakdowns etc. thanks

will also depend on your pay rate but i say yes very realistic

I would put the average about $150 lower. They think if you get two thousand miles in a seven day period you are doing great. Roehl has always had a reputation for weak miles.

Gross yes, net not very likely on a consistant basis. Hey preacher how are you doing as a lease operator?
-
for gross ya, i have something like 140 or more coming out for insurance and 401k, plus taxes, my last three checks net were around 535 to 575, every once in a while you get a 700 check, or a 300 because of hometime or something, im pretty new as well, just under 6 months on my own.
frank_the_tank Thanks this. -
yeah, i was talking gross. i know everyone has different deductions and what not. was just making sure 6 to 8 hundred a week gross was doable with this company. i dont want to take a step down. also one other question, does roehl have any dedicated positions?

Etch- I need to start my own thread about my experiences. Let me put it this way, after replacing the starter and the radiator to the tune of $3200 within a month of each other, this truck has gone from Blue Thunder to The Blue Lemon. Roehl did advance the money for the radiator and then Eric acted like he was doing me this huge favor and so I should sell my soul to them. They are getting their money back at the rate of $200 a week, plus the $75 a week for the security deposit and $75 a week for the trailer deductible. If you look at their contract you will find that if Roehl ever wants to get out of the trucking business they should open a used car lot.
I'm not looking for sympathy, since I knew I was dancing with the Devil and now that I've gotten burned I'm just hoping to heal up before things get hot again. My plan is still pretty much in place even though my wife had to go back to work to help. The thing about Roehl that just kills me is that even though I have dropped my home time from six days a month to four I am not seeing an equivalent increase in miles. My plan is to stick it out until I own the truck and then look at Landstar or Schneider Choice. I just talked to a Landstar driver doing the same run I was doing, I was getting $1.21 with fuel surcharge and he was getting $1.83 per mile. You do the math and explain why I would retire from Roehl?
As for pay with Roehl you should ask about the miles. Most drivers that I have talked to over the past two years are in the 7500 to 8500 miles a month range. -

What can I say? Unless I get another two thousand dollar repair bill (knock on wood) by March I will be clearing $350 a week more than I was in November. When you start a business you take a calculated risk in hopes of a larger return. I have 39 more months of truck payments and then with a $12,000 buy out the truck is mine. As I understand taxes I get to write off all of my lease payments and then I get to depreciate the buyout as well. From that point on I am clearing another $480 a week. Like I said, my plan is still pretty much in place, in fact my wife wants us to live like paupers so we can pay the truck off even earlier.
