i'm researching a lot about moving to Texas from Massachusetts I've seen a few ads for jobs but they aren't clear about pay and such. And also I'm not there to go to interviews yadayada. So I'm hoping some one could chime in on the subject and also share a little with current or past experiences in delivering fuel at stations in the Houston area.

Here in The Boston area the starting pay is at around 20.00 Hr to start. 23.00 seems average for most drivers. And there are plenty of overtime available so, as far as pay goes it's not that bad. The bad part here is the winter, snow, tight streets even tighter when snows alot. Our terminals are crap! There's always a rack down, long lines of trucks are common this time of the year (winter) we haul a lot of heating oil to local oil racks..

I think sun coast resources start at 22 a hr. Most fuel companies in Houston pay by the load

Paid by the load...DON'T DO IT!
Fuel hauling was the worst driving job ever for me. Won't ever do it again.

Can you share a litle more about the experience and where was this?

Here in Mass there is a company called JP NOONAN. I think they're the largest in the state. They pay most drivers by the hour but some are paid by the load ( veterans) and they love it. They said if they get paid by the hour they will quit or drag their ##### under each load.

Because I want a local gig I believe my options are limited. right now hauling fuel is the only thing i get going for me. I'm an automotive mechanic, I started working right out of high school until I was 29 years old. I was tired of it. Also fed up with all the money that has to be invested in tools with little return. even working as a company driver I'm making more then I ever made working in a repair shop.

I was told they switched from hourly pay to load pay. All the fuel companies are with range of each other down here

Not until the summer of 2018. My wife still has a year to get her bachelor's degree.
We're flying to Houston this summer to stay a week to check the around the area.
It's never too early to research the place and learn a few things.
