As stated above, that's my Q having been off the road since 2010. Back then I thought otr drivers would easily avg 100k, if not 120-140k miles annually. However, this article claims avg annual miles to be at 45k??

Depends on the driver, the job, how lazy the person is and so on. I did 140 last year but my dad who works for the post office did all of 39k but had 5 stops on his route each of which took around a good hour and a half.
It just depends. Short haul guys can do as little as 120 miles a day and long haul guys can do as much as 650+ in a day.Winnyf1, Tall Mike, Crude Truckin' and 3 others Thank this. -
Swift usually retires trucks at the 4 year mark. They usually have somewhere around 500k.kylefitzy, Another Canadian driver, The one california kid and 1 other person Thank this. -

An average OTR driver will run between 120k and 130k. High performing OTR drivers will run north of 140k. My highest performing year I did 153k. My personal average is usually in the 140k average.
