What's the average distance for your next loads? Are 1000 mile loads common or are most runs in the 500 mile range? What effects these outcomes? Is it work ethic, the region in which your picking up from or freight shortage? Which do you prefer and why?

Work ethic has a lot to do with your income in this business. If you keep the driver's door closed and stick behind the wheel rather than wasting time at the truck stops, you should be able to make decent money. I don't know the national average on runs. Most of my runs are in the 500-1,000 mile range. Some carriers may average 500 per run. You may do more shorter runs pulling a van than a flat or step deck. The average should vary from one carrier to another.

I'd say 400-600 is a good starting point. I just ran 588 yesterday and now I'm headed to Texas on a 660 mile run.

Every company is different in the types of runs they specialize in. My first company, a BFI, back a long time ago, averaged 1500+ miles per load. My second company was a 150 truck regional NE carrier and length of haul was about 170 miles. Under my authority, I averaged about 1,000 miles per load. I'm currently under 500 miles including deadhead, which is usually 50% of those miles.

This is regional but I would say average for me is about 250 miles. With 170 being around the shortest I see and just over 500 being my longest. Most are right around 250.

Avg is kinda hard to say. This week I have had 2-900+ runs and a 400 mile run with a preplan for 1200 dlv tuesday. What freight lane you are in helps. Figure 450 a day gives you 3100 miles on the week.
