Has anyone had any experience with the Traction Control axles ?
How are they in winter as opposed to the standard "power divider" ?
Looking at an ex-Werner Freigtliner Century with this system - maybe Werner drivers could weigh in,

    THANKS

Not familiar with ATC, yet I am with RSC (roll stability control). There was a lane change in Lincoln Nebraska that caught me and the trainer off guard. It was so quick it turned on the RSC.

They use the wheel speed sensors of the ABS to determine if the drive tires are spinning faster than the steer tires. At the sametime it also will determine if the right side drive tires are spinning versus the left side drive tires. If it recongises that the drives are spinning, it will modulate the brakes on the side of the truck that the tire is spinning to try to match the speed of the tire thats not. It supposed to work, but in my opinion it doesn't help much if any at all. It will also cut power from the engine to the tires at higher speeds if it recognises a drive tire spinning.

I find it very aggravating when I'm standing on the throttle hard and the #### thing tries to cut power.........it makes it very hard to put black marks down on the pavement.:biggrin_25523:

Can you switch it off if need be ? Like when you are trying to get out of mud or slippery ?

RSS - roll stability system is thing with accelerometer inside to prevent rolling over.

ASR - is a function of ABS unit that detect rear wheels skid with ABS sensors and unit derate engine via J1939. This system is not to let you start on skid road (diff. locks are used) but to prevent rear axe skidding when you floor gas on skid road and prevent accidents. It is safety thing.

On ABS-E unit there is ASR off pin. You can add switch and program ASR off function. But usually ABS units are enable ASR at 15 MPH ore when you turng ign off and then on.

They are useless. I can let off the pedal, catch the slide, get the grip and press the pedal again before traction control makes anything. They also cut fuel and you lose speed and get stuck in winter. Only for total idiots. They work better in cars because hydraulic brakes are much faster than pneumatic.

More and more bad drivers drive semis... It is reality. How many trucks were in 90? How many now?

That's why EBS appeared. EBS is faster hidraulic brakes.

First WABCO EBS was introduced in Mercedes Actros in 1996.

Wabco offer EBS and disk brakes for USA and IMO, EBS saves lives.... especially trailer EBS

Volvo I drove had EBS but the traction control was still too slow. EBS is good, like disk brakes.

More trucks from Eastern Europe and more bad drivers who get their licence from black market in Eastern Europe. (sorry Pablo)

It is not Eastern Europe problem. I see bad truckers everywhere.

more trucks, more bad drivers, more stress... and company I work for had to build collision repare workshop. every day they repare trucktors and trailers.

About TC of volvo.. you can disableTC with Instrumental Cluster Menu, but if you drive over 30 kmh it enables automaticly, and it is on when you turn ign. on next time.
