I was wondering if it's possible to have an auto start installed in my tractor. I live in Alaska and in the winter it regularly gets -20F and I hate jumping into a ice cube of a tractor. Granted I always allow the truck to warm up and get up to temp before taking off to start my day. I know my first car was a manual and in order to get the auto start to work, I had to #### the car down in a certain manner to ensure it was in nuetral. I would also turn the heat on and blower fan on after I shut it down for the night. There is also the matter of the glow plugs, seeing is how it's a diesel engine, it would need a period of time for them to warm up before it males the engine crank. OK thanks for the info in advanced.

Being in Alaska I'm surprised you don't have an engine pre-heater. Espar is a well known brand and basically all they do is heat up your coolant and run it through the block which you can set for certain times. get in your truck the next morning and she'll fire up like a morning in September. sorry i couldn't answer your question but that is the closest thing to an auto start for a big truck that I know of.

since you mentioned glow plugs I'm assuming this is a pick up truck and not a big truck. Remote starters have a delay function to allow glow plugs time to warm up.

I have an auto start on my diesel pick up, it just has a delay for the glow plugs. Mine is just for the opposite of you, I need mine to cool my truck down with the a/c on high in the summer! It's an automatic.
I inquired about installing one on my big truck, but they didn't want the liability of someone leaving it in gear while you are 100' away.

If it were an International with a Maxxfarce, he'd have glowplugs.
