My Delco VR400 radio system started to get old. The cassette player isn't working anymore so I cannot use the cassette adapter to listen to my satellite radio or to listen music from computer.
My idea is to eliminate the CD changer completely (I don't use it anyway) and somehow to replace the CD changer with a plug for jack audio to use it for whatever I wanna use.
I do not have the wiring diagram for the factory VR400 audio system the truck came equipped with and I have hard time figuring what to do.
I was thinking to replace the whole system with something new but the wiring in the back of my VR400 won't match any CD/Radio I found on the market.

Any input/idea will be appreciate. Thanx !

You could just cut and splice the wires. The hookup on a vehicle radio is really simple and basic. The radio should have 1 - 2 "hot" wires, 1 for main power and possibly 1 for memory. The main power wire will be "hot" only with the key on and the other will always be "hot". You will have to use a VOM to find out which one is which. There will also be a wire for ground or you can just run the ground wire from the new radio to just about any metal surface on the truck. Also, you will probably find about 8 wires for the speakers. You can use a "AA" battery to test out which wires are for each speaker. Just touch the battery between 2 wires and listen for a sound from the appropriate speaker.

Is not that easy. My sound system has a handful of wires for the steering wheel commands, for the amplifier, for the subwoofer, for 8 speakers, for the CD changer and who knows for what else. The main plug is long and thick and all the CD/radios I've seen on the stores anywhere have just a small plug with not even half of how many wires goes in the back of my actual system.
I'm not dumb but I'm not an expert either and I need the wiring diagram to see which is which. I will have to call Volvo tomorrow and see if I can get e-mailed the thing.
    Thanx for the input.

Anything can be done, and a lot of decent radios can be adapted to steering wheel controls. Get the harness from the place above, maybe call them and see if they have any tips too. Harness' never match up, every manufacturer, radio and vehicle, is different. That's why they make adapters. When I was in the industry, we had an entire wall dedicated to Metra fitment kits, harnesses and antenna adapters. Buy an Alpine, get the plug in XM module or buy the one with it built in, a steering wheel control adapter, and your harness and be happy. It will sound so much better than a cassette adapter as well.
