:biggrin_2554:I bought a 2007 Western Star 4964F triaxle from J&J Truck Sales, Danburg, Virginia, back in Feb. 2013. The truck had only 145,000 miles on it and it looked beautiful. I took it for a test drive and she drove beautiful as well. Well I offered them $80,000 and they were asking $89,000. They said they can't go any lower. So I gave them $86,000 cash and told them I will be back at the end of the week to pick it up. They told me that they can deliver it to before that, for $800 more. I said ok, because the ride down there from NJ, sucked. Needless to say, after I received the truck, I raised the body about 2 feet to keep the rain from building up in the body. The next day I go out and there is a puddle of hydraulic fluid under my truck. I took the truck to my mechanic, he said the ram needed to be repacked because the adjusters were tightened all the way down. The dealer said they will send another ram to my mechanic, and I had to pay almost $400 towards the ram. Then, I bring the truck in for inspection after registering it, and after $3000 in repairs, it finally passed inspection. The mechanic called the dealership to explain everything that was wrong with the truck and the salesman said they would help me with payment of $3000, since I still never even ran the thing yet, and pretty much gave them what they were asking for the truck. Well after not hearing anything from the salesman after 2 weeks, I decided to call him. Well he said the owner and the GM, not in so many words, to go scratch. They aren't giving me anything. I told them that I was touched by the recording on their phones when they put you on hold, that J&J stands by their HONESTY and INTEGRITY. I said to them what if I was driving it back to NJ, and got stopped at one of the many D.O.T. stops along the way. The idiots told me that the truck was set up to pass Virginia inspection. Don't they know the inspection for trucks, is federally mandated. Inspection is the same in every state? The only thing that is different, is the G.V.W.R. I had a lot of friends, that are O.O., tell me that they should have never let that truck leave without passing inspection. Again let me say that I loved the HONESTY and INTEGRITY part on their recording. So let me finish with, DON'T BUY FROM J&J TRUCK SALES OR ATKINSON IN DANBURG, VA., UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SHAFTED.

So you dished out $89 grand without even having a mechanic look at the truck first? A little common sense could of saved you mucho dinero and many hassles here.

They had everything cleaned very nice on it. I'm in NJ and couldn't have a mechanic do a full inspection on it. The engine is fine on her. Its misc. crap that was hidden. The seals weren't leaking when I looked at it down there.

Yeah I guess live and learn right? But let me ask you this, will they let a mechanic come in and break it down? Every O/O I spoke with beside you couple of guys, said the truck should have never left the lot not being able to pass inspection. My mechanic was saying that they would only let you do a visual inspection.

There is no difference from a NJ, NY, VA or any other state. Its a federally mandated inspection.
