Another issue is everyone has different sized signs. So I just run with 18"x84" signs but most of the time you nave to wrap it around something. I got a little hassle in WY about the sign being on top of the cab but the officer was only 10 feet from the truck, of course you cannot see it from there.

I think the ones on top of the cab are the best because you also have the flashing lights up there to draw attention to it. Also because mine is air operated....LOL

    Oxbow Thanks this.

There's a company that makes DOT compliant oversize signs that are basically massive refrigerator magnets. Peel on and off.

That being said, in oversize and heavy haul, looking cool should never supersede practicality

Yep, air operated behind the cab is how mine is too. My truck came out of Washington, I really like the way they set up both lowboy trucks and dump trucks up there, and so do my customers! Last year when Wyoming changed stuff they never jumped my case about the cab mounted sign but were pretty adamant about reminding me that flags had to go on the front and rear corners of the truck and trailer, in addition to the widest point.

I'd like to upgrade the strobes on top of my sing to some LED's so I can have 20+ patterns to play with when I get bored.

Kansas made one of my heavy haul customers lower their air operated signs last year. When it was down, the MCI said it was still too high. They had just picked two trucks up from having the headache racks and signs installed. Apparently, the installer couldn't read a tape measure to put them at the specified height. Now you can only see the top half of the sign when it's down.

They were after a few of our trucks for covering the plate. We have moose bumpers and with the D signs, our plates were covered. We got our welder to weld a piece of alu up higher on the bumper(half way up the rad pretty much) to install our plates there. No issues now!

Good day. Regarding the Oversize Banner/Over Weight Banner, Are there any issues with the banner being on the load right at the height of the rear deck of the trailer. I know this isn't always possible, but, I wanted to see if anyone had any problem with certain states. Also, what about reflective vs non reflective banners. Thanks..

You'd have to read your permit(s) for what is allowed and not allowed. I don't haul in the US, but every province here has different regs for where the banner has to be(height wise usually) and how big it's got to be along with if it's got to be reflective or lighted.

In the US. Reflective banner needed only if running at night in some states, some required the sign and load to be lighted. I don't run at night with OD loads. To many things to watcha and you can't see them all at night.
OF course some routes and loads require night moves. Just sayin.
Height of banner? Really depends on the state. However most loads I run, I tie the banner to the back of my trailer. If hangs just below my plate. Never had a DOT say anything about it.
    Good luck
