Hi guys and gals. I have an old D104M 1 that I got from my grandfathers estate. I went to use it the other day and when I plug it into my radio, it is automatically keyed up. When I press the key it shows as not receiving, but when I let go it goes back into Transmit.

Anyone have any experience with these? And can maybe throw some insight or a wiring diagram my way?

    Thanks

Sounds like it's not wired for your radio. What kind of radio do you have? And what kind of radio (do you know) was the mic wired for?

I am trying to run it on a Uniden PC68 LTW, and it was previously wired to run on a Iriqouis Cardon 40 base station. I am getting rid of the Uniden this weekend and picking up a Cobra 29 again, so I would want it to be wired for a Cobra I guess.

I'm not familiar with the Iriquois mic pattern.

However, your PC 68 LTW mic pattern is as follows:

    1 Ground
    2. Audio
    3. TX
    4. RX

Typically in an aftermarket mic, black is RX, red is TX, white is audio, and bare wire is ground. Not always but usually. CB tricks may have something for that mic.

The PC68LTW and the Cobra 29 use the same mic pattern.

Anything wrong with the 68 LTW? I like those radios....:biggrin_255:

I am having an issue with mine and I am not sure if its the radio or the mic. When I key up I get an horrible squeal/feedback. I have checked my SWR with a really good Dosy meter, less than 1 on all 3 channels (1, 19, 40). Checked the ground on my antenna, its good, tuned the modulation up on it, and it's still not sounding good. When I talk to guys I know on the road, they tell me I am squealing. So thought I would try the minuteman on it but am having this problem lol.

Does the radio have talk back added? If so try turning it off.

The problem is it isn't wired up right for the Uniden or the Cobra.

There is 6 wires or should be with the MM1, there is a blue wire and a shield soldered together on the mic plug for all these radios you have.

There is a yellow wire too but that is ignored.

The Iroquois should be wired this way -

    Number one terminal - white
Number two terminal - shield and blue
    Number three terminal - black
    Number four terminal - red

Uniden/Cobra should be wired this way -

Number one terminal - shield and blue
    Number two terminal - white
    Number three terminal - red
    Number four terminal - black

The reason for the squealing is that the switching done internally isn't turning off the speaker and is causing the audio to internally feedback into the transmit.

OH and be careful when you solder the wires on, you can melt the plug.
