Had to catch up on the posts as we don't sit often, but yes we did buy our truck from Arrow and finance through Transport Funding their inhouse banking option. We got a great payment, we were approved within 30 minutes of applying over the phone and the down payment they asked for was less than what we actually gave.

The best part of buying from Arrow is the financing. I don't think the trucks are overpriced as the earlier said, I spent two months comparing prices before we picked. However; now for kicker:

Our truck did need a lot of repair, in the first 30 days we spent 10 in the shop, Arrow did pay for most of it, we ate $500 due to using our employer shop at JCT, it was determined they overcharged. But to be fair, we also got that reimbursed by our awesome sales guy by way of free fuel.

Since January, when we bought the truck, in addition to the $10,000 that Arrow paid we've invested another $6,000. We replaced all tires, centrimatics, and piddly things, but mostly we spent on air leaks!!!!!

This 780 seems to constantly spring a new air leak. Other than that, and trust me that's enough, we LOVE our truck. We've put 100,000 miles on it January 10.

Hope that helps, and good luck.

Also, we leased from Crime Inc for two years and looks like we be joining the long line of people suing them.

Arrow is owned by Volvo that's why 99% of the trucks on their lots are Volvo's or Mack. Not sure what you mean by the statement
They are not some shady a$z buy here pay here lot! Doesn't mean there better than any other major dealer either though. I think it all depends on the location personally with any truck dealer brand.

Good to hear you're doing alright out there - it's been awhile! Did you ever get the air leaks straightened out? I remember that was driving you folks crazy! :biggrin_25516:

I,m looking to buy a Mack truck, pre emissions, with low miles on rebuilt engine. Or a axle forward- that,s what they call the CH now. Would arrow be the best place to locate one? I didn,t know Volvo owned Arrow truck sales. Thanks for the info.

I think the best place to start looking is by doing a search on Truckpaper.com.

    Good luck!

I am curious to find out some things.

We are wanting to buy a truck. We did want to work for JCT but we didn't have steady work history to start with them. My question is, if we buy a truck from, say, Arrow, and pull for JCT or any other company. How would that work?? I know some companys will pay for the base plate and cover permits. I know that we would be responsible for insurance and such.

Would it be easier to do it this way? Our credit is not that great and at the moment we can put 10% down but we can't go all out O/O. If I didn't make this clear enough let me know. btw, the company we work don't really offer crap for O/O so don't come here.. LOL

Ok thanks. I was looking on the truckpaper too, the truck is usually speced wrong, in 1 way, like too small of bunk, or a 10 speed. Anyway is there another website, besides these two. Thanks

    Daddy&mama2go,
You two folks must be the worlds greatest optimist, If I had bought a used truck that needed $16,000 worth of repairs in less than six months I would be at my wits end!!
Good Luck I hope that changes for you,

Heck, I just think they got a great deal out of the warranty work - if anyone wants to do $10,000 worth of work at no cost to me I'll make my truck available ASAP! I was beside myself to get a new wiper motor on a recall yesterday - didn't expect that.:biggrin_2559:

The other $6,000 was tires, Centramatics, and that doesn't really leave too much else (air leak chasing I would assume). People don't even consider tires when they've never bought a set. My virgin drives were $3,000 - trading in a set of brand new recaps.

My truck has been good to me - I think - for a 2005 model with 472k on it. So far I've spent $600 on new front airbags, $750 on a rear leveling valve and an alignment, $820 for a new starter - belt tensioner - belt, $270 for troublshooting an electrical issue (bad connection at new starter) and reprogramming the ECU to do what I want (and getting a free wiper motor), and regular service costs (which are probably $2k at this point - I take care of my truck). That comes to $2,440 and then there's the odds and ends that I've done myself - another $500 or so. All in all, I've run half the miles they have so far, and spent about half that without getting any warranty work done yet.

It's not optimism, it's the cost of doing business (CODB). The sooner people prepare themselves and expect the expenses, the sooner the road will be a safer place for all of us. I've known alot of drivers that will drive ANYTHING if the wheels are round - and that's plain scary!

If you have specifics that you are looking for you can specify all those things like sleeper size, motor, trans, rearend, miles, price etc......in an advanced search on truckpaper. You could also call a dealer closest to you and tell them exactly what you want and have them find you one. Arrow specializes in Volvo's and Mack since Volvo owns them both. Or call a Volvo or Mack dealer to find you what you want.
