English Checks Have Begun ‼️ Truck driver in Arkansas at a weigh station

    - They’re stopping ALL trucks
    - Everyone is handed a piece of paper
    - They must read it out loud
    - They must also write what they’re told to write

“I was actually witnessing people in handcuffs that had been pulled in. I was like, what's going on? He goes, we've come across now that if you cannot read or write in English, that it's a $5,000 fine.

And if you have a company in Arkansas that employs people that can't read or write in English, it's a $10,000 fine paid on the spot...

Arkansas bill bans non-citizens from operating a commercial vehicle without a U.S.-issued CDL and English language proficiency

Finally, some good news for a change. Going after the employers is an awesome step in the right direction (pun intended.)

I mean, they’re saying it on the Internet so it must be true, but it hasn’t passed yet.

I heard about it happening several times last week. Folks see DOT out and busy and make these ridiculous assumptions.

Maybe they were just out and busy because of the 70-80* weather and sunshine?

I went through a couple AR scales last week. No interrogations, blinding flashlights, writing english, etc. Hell, I didn't even get stopped.

Could be maybe truck drivers spread a lil gossip?

If it passes does this bill have an exemption for Canadian truck drivers with a valid commercial drivers license?

Had a driver in the mid 80's that had his wife ride along. He couldn't read/write, she did his logs and he made his mark on them. She read the maps, ect

I call bullsh**** on this one. I have a bunch of trucks working Arkansas and I asked everyone there if they seen this and not one said they saw anything like this.
Yes your version of the cdl is good, the treaty overrides state laws.
Wrong, treaties make this a non-issue, while the state law can be more restrictive for regulations, treaties are above this and are equal to a constitutionally valid law,

Whow, so I guess for us Canadian drivers we have to either drop trailers outside in the surrounding state of Arkansas or just avoid it altogether. This is going to be interesting and I guess good for the Intrastate trucks in Arkansas regarding work loads.
