I'm looking for feedback on this side of trucking. Are there any drive away companies worth looking at?

Several in northern Indiana, Elkhart & Goshen. Check indeed or google for a list of companies. Hoosier or Horizon Transport is a couple of companies that advertise a lot.

Penske calls them "hikers" because after drop off you hike out of rural areas to find your own transportation to next dispatch or home. All drive away companies involve a lot of walking back to civilization or $200.00 taxi fees.

Be careful what you ask for. I used to do recovery work. You never know what you're going to climb into. But, you can be assured some of the jobs are recovering abandoned trucks and they're not usually left in the cleanest condition if you get my meaning.

Trash bags (make good seat covers) and latex gloves (like doctors use but non sterile variety) were must tools for me. Lol

I quit doing it after awhile because it's just a dirty job for the most part and can be inconsistent work.

But it did pay pretty darn well.

And don't forget the qualcomms usually have pages upon pages of driver rage with dispatcher soothing before final quitting. Some of those contained the story of how it went down. That is the first thing I check when I recovered tractors. Then I pretrip like I will buy it myself and sometimes find shop problems, possibly sabotage. But Im not a forensics investigator so I don't know.

After a number of ragequits on qualcomms it all becomes a familiar theme reading the same stuff over and over again.
