My Thermo-King Tri-Pack was low on oil so I filled it (slowly) to the dip stick line. Now it cuts off after running for a few minutes. I have to reset the unit. The message says "Engine". After running a few more minutes it shuts off again. Any experience or thoughts?

how low of oil was it, and did you use the top fill cap or the 1 about mid unit?

I used the one which is mid way down. It was pretty low.

did you reset it on the temperature control console in the bunk, or did you push in the reset button on the side of the black brain box in the side box? The one in the side box must be reset whenever there is a fault that shuts it off.

    tfreemanhome Thanks this.

I reset at the side box. That is the only way to start it again. It runs for a few minutes and then shuts off and I have to reset the side box and then start from inside the sleeper again

Maybe it's an oil pressure switch?

So I looked all over the internet for a TriPac APU Manual and the Alarm Codes but I did some 2 Hours of looking for my manual and it was under my bed in the Cab (Which contains all Alarm codes on page 30).

For all those having problems with there Tripac APU then here is all the Alarm Codes for it!

TriPac HMI Controller alarm codes are:

EnG: This code indicates that the "8" circuit has a failure. This can be caused by an open engine reset switch (resulting from low oil pressure or high water temperature) or the Main Power On/Off Switch is in the off position.

    ALSO
this 1 is also common if there is air in the coolant lines, if you recently had the trucks coolant drained for any reason and the apu was not bled of air, then it will throw this code also

AcS: This code indicates that an abnormal air conditioning system condition has occured. Typical cause are high discharge pressure or low pressure. (In my own words your APU needs Freon)

ALt: This code indicates that a charging system failure has occurred. This code will occur if there is no alternator output after 2 minutes of operation.

To clear Alarm Codes, use the HMI Main Power Key to turn off the TriPac system.

This is straight from the Manual and these are ALL the codes (except the "In my own words" part). A lot of people are trying to find these codes so here they are! Any questions just ask!

No problem, I made a thread on the TriPac APU on the 3rd pageish now. Its probably the same kind of cause to the coolant being changed or oil being the same. Check Fuses, wiring, switches as well.

Does it matter which oil fill port I use. Why the heck do they have two of them anyway? I used the one mid way down next to the dip stick.
