apu oil

    so my apu needs oil what kind do I use same as I use in the truck engine or something different

    I use the same as truck engine in mine. No sense carrying two kinds of oil around with me.

    Would help if you provided the make / model of APU , if its a THERMOKING TRIPAK the manual calls for
    API Type CI-4 or better multigrade oil
    API Synthetic Type CI-4 or better after first 1000 hours
    (optional)
    API Type CJ-4 or better multigrade oil is required for
    units equipped with the optional DPF (Diesel Particulate
    Filter)

    We run the sme in both.

    Mine has the Kubota on it. I use Rotella 15w40, same as truck

    I guess is boils down to what APU it is and who owns it. If in doubt ask the owner...otherwise follow the manufacturers recommendations as to oil type. Mine just uses any 15-40 diesel oil. I just use the same oil as my truck for simplicity sake.
