APU A/C Compressor Replacement?

So I’m thinking I’ll need an A/C manifold gauge, a vacuum pump and oil, and also oil for the new A/C compressor. By the way, how do I remove the freon from the old compressor? Would I be using an empty gas container to dump it in?

This is on a Thermo King Tripac (2013).

save your money and don't buy it. just buy 2 cans of r134a, new O-rings, pag-100 oil and new receiver drier. let freon go out, it will not harm ozone.

Do you get your o-rings from Harbor Freight? Where do I get pag-100 oil, and how do I add it to the new compressor? Wouldn’t I need a vacuum pump for that?

Autozone has O-rings and pag-100 oil. its up to you vacuum it or not. I have tested the tripac with pre vacuumed and non vacuumed charge, 0 cooling performance difference. You need to be careful when adding oil. Remove old compressor and drain it. measure how many oz oil came out. after installing new compressor you need to add same amount of oil inside.

some new compressors come oil added inside but amount of oil in there is usually more than needed. When you get new compressor you need to drain it again, measure it and you can use that oil if it's fresh.

I think I already have it. Mine is a PDF file 72 pages long.

So when adding oil to the new compressor I don’t need a vacuum pump?

the manual says needs to be vacuumed. I changed my compressor and did not do vacuum. it's cooling perfectly. I changed the drier. Drier has filter inside that collect moisture and debris inside of system.

So I have changed the A/C compressor and air dryer, but I’m stuck trying to add freon to the compressor. I can’t get the compressor to run, so it can suck the freon. The belt spins, but the center of the compressor is not spinning. I reconnected the small wire, but nothing. I will try to make another wire connection as I may have pressed the butt connector too hard this second time.

When I bought the compressor the parts guy said it comes with oil. The compressor is not Thermo King brand, but I did buy it from a TK dealer. Oh, I did vacuum it, and it had no leaks. I’m also getting an ACS code on the display.
