hope someone knows this. We are looking at renting some warehouse space. The total space from dock to the end of the drive is 80 ft. (Depth)

Is that enough for 53 ft trailers + regular cab to maneuver and pull up to dock? (No overnight/ refrigerated)

    Thanks for any help

Edit: Adding pics. ( I see the bigger trailers at the end, which gives me hope. But im not sure if those are shorter trailers, or the drive is narrower at my end, or what but my space is 80 ft dock to treeline.

From dock to street is 80 ft?? Truck and 53 is 65 to 67. It can fit backing from street w/ about 12- 15 ft from hood to street

You might want to actually measure a truck. I'm 70' bumper to bumper with a day cab and 48' trailer...and I was 75' with a 48' trailer back when I was OTR with a 60" sleeper. If you had a cabover with a small sleeper and a narrow gap between the truck & trailer, you might get to that 65-67' range pulling a 53 footer...but the typical OTR T/T is going to be closer to 75-80' from bumper to bumper.

This is a newer warehouse near Arlington TX. I'm guess this is about 110-115 feet from the wall to the curb based on the realization the trailers you see are 53 footers in the upper area. (Those near the bottom of the image are probably 48 footers). I would not recommend anything less than this. 80 foot? There will have to be some special circumstances for this to be doable. In the image, this is a relatively easy place to work in. We work in tighter confines all the time, but not 80 foot, especially if we're having to back in next to another truck/trailer

However, if we're just talking about 1 dock and only one truck at a time and no extraneous stuff to get in the way, 80 foot is probably adequate assuming there is proper "setup space"

Can you post a satellite view of the space in question?

Where would you be looking for this space?

That's very close. You are as the others say 70 feet just about with a large sleeper truck. A day cab might get in there. But if it's only 80 feet of dock to fence or curb or whatever else... ugh.

There are several turning radii available to a 18 wheeler in extreme cases where a dock assigned is between two trucks and trailers, you get a yard jockey to pop it in there.

I don't personally like 80 feet from edge of dock/building to the curb or fence of the specific area where you use the room to get trailers into and out of docks. That's really really pushing it.

To me that's day cab country. Single axle if you can do it weight wise. Like for really light products like empty plastic personal containers for something at the mall etc in bulk. Not for heavy stuff that puts you at 80000 pounds.

If no one is renting that little bit of space... that is probably the reason 80 feet is just not quite enough. It can be done, but the damage potential will just eat you up.

It is probably why their rent is so cheap at the whare house. Just a guess.

    How wide is the driveway?

    How wide is the street?

How willing are you to block traffic?

    Thanks all

I realize a picture is going to be needed on this one.

The green arrow is the dock in question. I guess it was trash day when this image was taken.

After looking at the image I see some bigger trailers at other docks, which gives me hope but i'm not sure if the drive is narrower at my end or what. Laser said 80 ft at my dock. But those trucks look pretty comfortable. [IMG] [IMG]
