The best plan is to obey the speed limits like you are paranoid about getting a ticket, and run legal with your logs and equipment.
I have used Interstate Trucker on an as needed basis. The other services, if you think about the never ending monthly costs, end up being a huge amount of money over your career.

    Pre-Paid legal is a rip-off......................

Hire an attorney as needed, where needed.........

Make it a habit to drive as if the boss and the cops are following you. Everything else is a gimmick that will cost too much and deliver too little. It is your job, not an optional duty, to read every speed limit sign and drive accordingly. Daily other drivers ignore the speed limit until they notice someone passing, or they are passing, and then they adjust.

Every time they have construction in my area the pattern is the same. Some fast chicken truck blows past me just before construction. More or less obeys construction speed limit. Drives past the first 2 after-construction speed limit signs. And only accelerates to the current non-construction speed limit after some car or other truck begins to pass the foot dragging truck driver.

Getting a 1,000 watt CB and then asking "hey what's the speed limit?" isn't a good plan either unless you really need to know the speed limit in central Mexico.

I think all of those services are a scam. They usually put you in touch with a local attorney that can't find his ##### with both hands & he recommends you plead no contest & pay the fine.

the best thing you can do is, join the OOIDA. you will get a monthly magazine, and in the magazine they have lawyers that can help you when YOU NEED IT. i do not know for sure, but maybe there is a "discount" for OOIDA members...????

and if a lawyer IS NEEDED that is not in the magazine, then just call OOIDA, i'm sure they can put you in touch with a lawyer in the state you wold need one.

$45 per year to belong to OOIDA.

Keep you head out of your butt, drive like your license depends on it. Since it does. Do your pre-trips like you are supposed to. Keep your logs legal and legible, up to date. Keep you rig clean and in shape. Don't mouth off to DOT officers, they will make your life a living heck if they want.

Ignore the BBR, and cowboys that think they are God's gift to trucking.

Keep it safe out there and you will be fine.
