Picked my new truck up yesterday....no antennas at all!
They are molded into the roof of the cab....WOW! what a stupid design!
I have to run my radio on 2 watts or it will cook it.
The perch mount will be way to low.
Anyone tried the perch mount for the passenger side spot mirror over the door?
Looks like my only option but not sure how sturdy that will be.
Anyone in a new Cascadia with the hidden antenna?

Ive got one, doesnt bother me, but then i dont care much about a cb.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
A stock radio will do over 2 watts, how do you know how far you turn yours down?
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Yeah I've got one. It fairly well sucks. Can tell a big difference over the 2013 I came out of. Tv, radio and cb reception on all three is not as good as previous versions. Still researching options for what's going to work best as an improvement. Not impressed with it at all

If you use a perch mount anywhere, you may need to run an additional ground wire for it too.

Unfortunately CB performance for truck makers is a thing of the past. I have a 2006 Century and Freightliner back then started incorporating the CB antennas with the radio (am/FM) antennas through a splitter box. It was the start of reducing costs. The main problem with these new antenna ideals is a lack of overall performance due to a lack of a good ground plane. But although I was once very much interested in a nice quality CB radio. I just recently purchased a $40 Cobra which replaced my old Cobra 25. I just have lost interest in the CB other then using it for the occasional shipper or receiver or when traffic or weather dictates. I think its becoming less important with large fleets and so truck makers are reducing their focus on it too.

I have not tried the TV yet so it sounds like I will need to look into that too.
SWR is all over the place with the built in deal.
I have a Watt meter and have the variable power as low as it will go on my CB.
Anything over 2 to 4 watts and it slams the SWR over to around 1.9 or higher.....JUNK!
My 500 dollar Galaxy will be staying home and my old 44V will go in the truck.
Sucks about the TV too....I was driving a 2012 Cascadia for a few weeks and the TV was not bad.
The truck itself drives good and they set the speed limiter at 76....so not bad for a fleet truck.
Just have to get used to it....
No more large car.....lol!jlind and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I'm in a 2014.
Bird perch mount on the driver's side with a 5.5' Francis turned forward about 30 degrees. No ground strap. SWR is 1.3 on ch19. Last night I was talking to a guy a good ways ahead of me, I was starting to lose him, but he said I was still coming in loud and clear on his end. Granted, my 29LX has a big final and a good tune, and he just had a stock radio and a Little Wil on top of his pickup (off-duty pilot car driver) so that's probably why I was losing him.blairandgretchen and EZ Money Thank this. -
Our fleet just got 2 of them, one guy says his works good, and I seldom see or talk to the other one.
I use a q-5 mount on the 2013, with a 7 foot Firestick, one of the other drivers has the top of the passenger door mount which I have seen and asked about but been unable to find. I haven't run across a Skipshooter for sale, or a Nightstick, both of which come in 7 foot versions, too. That height puts the tip up around 13' 6" from the ground, and works good enough on the receive.
The techs I have asked all say the passenger side is on the wrong side for line of sight to work well enough.EZ Money and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I would take the integrated antenna over the slapping antennas on the older Cascadia's in the wind and ice. Drove me crazy when it would bang on the side of the truck.
25(2)+2 Thanks this.
