I think that one good solid poop a day sounds right. I tried keto and went 3 days without. I was concerned with all that staff lingering in the intestines.
On a serious note, it is difficult to supply natural fiber with keto.

You can’t compare lifespans today with the Stone Age.

Our ancestors died at earlier ages because of things like infections, childbirth issues, eating poisonous foods, or getting killed by predators.

There are two sides of this. One is that you need to, and cannot, which is normally caused by too much cheese, or that you simply don't need to because you are not ingesting enough indigestible mass to need to go often. Proteins and fats are very dense in calories, and most of their mass is utilized, unlike carb heavy foods, which tend to have lots of indigestible fiber.

No, getting fiber on ketosis is simple. Lettuce works very well. Ground flax seed as well. Neither has enough carbs to interfere with ketosis as long as you dont eat enormous quantities.

By the way, those could be an especially bad combination . . .

"Severe hypoglycemia leading to permanent brain damage is rare in non-diabetic population. We present one such case where chronic alcoholism combined with prolonged fasting lead to such a state and patient ended in a persistent vegetative state."

Okay so I'm gonna hopefully resolve some concerns here. As I've said before I've done Keto long term, and started it by accident trying to stick to a paleo diet. I've been keto so long I've actually developed a sensitivity to gluten. So yeah sucks to be me.

I use 2 apps this time around to keep my keto and calories in check one is Simple Macro, and the other is a macro calculator to determine the amounts I need or would need ect.

    1. When starting Keto your body is going to shed retarded amounts of weight in water and glycogen. Easily upwards of 19lbs if you have never done it before. So don't fret, but always be near a potty. Lol
    2. If you haven't had brain fog, upset stomach, or cramps, you haven't gotten the keto flu yet. You may think you have, but you haven't, it normally takes 1-2 weeks to start if it's your first time, and TRUST ME you'll know cause you'll get 'die-off'

DIE-OFF: Is the lamans term used to explain a metabolic change in the body, certain enzymes and bacteria are starved, or the environment changes and they can no longer survive and they die. This is normally accompanied by cramps, abdominal pains, and diarrhea.
    (Keto flu Bowel style)
    3. When the Die off starts you'll know. You'll get the runs, during this time (3 days-7 days) Don't trust any fart. I'm being serious. Ask me how I know.

    4. Your bowel movements are going to stop for a little while. Your metabolism is changing and your body won't handle the foods properly until the bacteria it needs are in place. You can take a fiber supplement if you like, or wait it out. This normally goes away after the die off begins, then trust me. You'll wish you could stop crapping. After you've finished with the die off, your body will adapt and become 'normalized' again. When it happened to me I was so regular I could set an alarm for when I needed to go and it would only ever be out by 10-25min.

If your interested in a fiber supplement that's really healthy I suggest Chia Seeds. They work amazingly at keeping you regular.

If anyone has any concerns please let me know I'll be happy to help. I tend to experiment with things during Ketosis to see how it affects it.

Like recently I seen how many corndogs I had to eat to knock me out. It was 6, and 3 rib sandwiches. Now I'm keeping track of how long it takes me to get back into ketosis. (Started today) So 5 days. Now I'm going to do a 18-20hr fast to put my body in hard ketosis.

    So ya I'm alwaYs around.

I have been in ketosis several times, for months at a time, and never experienced the negative abdominal side effects you describe. Perhaps they are not universal, eh?

No the Herxheimer reaction universal. That's what causes the Keto flu actually. It's just coined that because no one cares to learn what actually causes it. The severity depends on how you start your ketosis. If you tip toe to it, it's not as severe.

If you 100% it like I do, it can get overwhelming. The key is knowing when it's really happening because you can 'think' your in ketosis, but really your just on the verge but not quite there. I've had that happen lots of times. I could have sworn I was in ketosis but had no ketones in my system whatsoever. I was just eating and exercising properly.

Now I carry portable tests, I test 1 or twice a day depending. That's how I track how long it takes me to get in and out. Then what I need to do to jump from .5mmol to 2mmol.

" The Herxheimer response is a natural bodily process triggered by a greater prevalence of endotoxins. These harmful substances are released when harmful microorganisms and bacteria are destroyed or die off. As damaging bacteria are destroyed, they release previously contained endotoxins into the bloodstream. This allows the toxins to be transported to the appropriate system and subsequently expelled from the body. However, rapid destruction of bacteria can cause an influx of endotoxins resulting in greater toxicity. When this occurs, the immune system responds by triggering an acute immune response resulting in inflammation that may be experienced throughout the body. This can cause worsening of current symptoms and the development of now symptoms.

The Herxheimer reaction is frequently seen during antibiotic treatments because antibiotics destroy numerous microorganisms and bacteria. Although the Herxheimer reaction is typically non-lethal, it does frequently cause temporary pain, discomfort, and worsening of symptoms. Symptom severity is often indicative of the level of inflammation triggered by the immune system. "

Drinking electrolytes can help lessen these issues, but depending in the person and their diets content of complex carbs will truly determine the effects of their keto-flu. I love pasta, and garlic bread, and breads in general. So naturally my body had way more bacteria geared towards carbs. So my die off was more significant.

Now that I pretty much only eat Paleo style, and jump in an out if keto at will my die off is almost non-existent because my body doesn't have the time to grow any significant amount of bacteria geared towards carbs. So my flu-like symptoms may only last a day or two now compared to the 2 weeks it used to hit me.
