So I met this guy whose owner of mcmahon dairy services out of HUNTLEY,IL
somehow he got a contract after AWG merged with a local distributor doing some of the deliveries for AWG in Kenosha,WI. Black horse is the main carrier currently. He said he is going to take over eventually, not sure how true that is, but I also talked to the guard at the gate She confirmed that this guy has a lot of trucks running everyday, and Black horse dont have enough drivers for them they are trying to just find one company do their deliveries.
He would pay me $220 a day to run a route to the surrounding area grocery store, no unloading.
About 10 hours I would work in a day, only 3 stops.
Insurance right away, 401k etc...
so everything all sound really good
but there are also a lot of red flags as well, i was meeting him in the yard of AWG, he said he doesnt have an office yet there, because black horse people still occupied the office.
I did see some of his brand new tractors parked there with his company logo on it.
but I asked him to give me a formal job offer letter or something in writing he refused to do that.
and He doesnt even conduct background check and DMV report, i ask him why he just ask me if my record is clean i said yes then he said he trust me.
im new to trucking, im currently with mclane, FS is little too hard for me, so im trying to find something easier, but all the mega requires 2 yrs to be considered for their local runs.
anyone heard of Associated Wholesale Grocers before?

All of this = cheap labor = stay away......imho.LoneCowboy, HalpinUout, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
They said average is around 57K/year. They said it's 90% driver unload AND I'd have to work 6 days a week off Sunday. Hell no. I declined. Yes I want to be home daily, but I made more than that last year. No thanks.
They are called AWG for short. Their trucks are those best choice trucks you see around that carry generic brand foods.Mpeng98 Thanks this. -
So I actually set an interview with this guy who posted hiring ad, I met him in the parking lot of AWG , he told me he is taking over the delivery for AWG in Wisconsin (AWG just bought out a local distubutor) so currently black horse is doings the work for AWG but black horse can't meet the demands for AWG.
The pay is 225 a day for 10 hours usually finish less than 10 hours he said, 6 days a week, later he changes to 5 days is ok too.
He doesn't require any background check or DMV checks. That's kinda strange.
I saw couple his tractors in the yard with name McMahon dairy services on it, which he told me he and his day running a dairy delivery in IL, now pick up this grocery contract.
Can this guy be trusted ? -

A large company like Black Horse can't keep up? So a few or 1 or 2 of his trucks are going to help? I see lonnngggg hours in your future, regardless of what he said, sounds like he's desperate for a driver.
All kinds of warning flags with this, don't see a happy ending. Anything having to do with a grocery warehouse is bad in my experience. You ever read all of the experiences that drivers delivering to Wal Mart warehouses have? Or any grocery warehouse for that matter. Wait times, being treated like crap? And you think a place like AWG will be any better?
But, what do I know, it's ultimately your decision. It could turn out to be the best job you ever had but in my experience I doubt it.
Good luck!HalpinUout, bzinger and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
