I'm curious as what other peoples set up is as what people have where they located subs, and amps. I just got my first system and I'm looking for ideas on how to improve things and upgrade in the future just trying to get ideas. I have a single den alpine deck, alpine type r 5.25's in the doors, type r 6x9's in the back, powered by an alpine power pack, and a jl v3 600w monoblock powering a jl 10w6 under the bunk. It sounds great nothing like pulling up to a light and having people look around to see what's bumping and then do a double take at that the truck. But the power pack isn't enough for the type r's and I get clipping at higher volume so I wanting to get a better speaker amp but I don't want rewire the speakers. So I was thinking of setting the speaker amp under the dash and using the factory wiring but I'm worried about cooling with it under the dash. Also the sub amp gets HOT so I have to raise the buck which allows enough airflow to keep things cool. Some people ride around with their seat down I guess I can I ride around with my bunk up. But I'm curious were others have put their amps to allow proper airflow.
Anyone have an aftermarket stereo system in the truck?

Oh dear. Anyone want to help this individual piss off entire truck stop residents with bass that resonates across the entire truck stop?
I'm sorry, those people "looking around to see what's bumping"? They're not impressed with anything you've got. They're looking around to see who the idiot is. -
I am happy with no amps and 4 good speakers and a good head unit with a remote.
I only jam metal and audio books though so I don't need a sub.Last edited: Nov 4, 2015

Well I will just state two facts. Most car stereos won't last in a truck. Trucks vibrate more then cars so stereos just don't last.
The void under you bunk works great as a box for your sub and a place for your amps.
Please be considerate in truck stops and rest areas. Remember drivers sleep there day and night. Thanks in advance. -

They make quality truck specific head units with rear aux, preouts... all kinds of goodies. Just do a little research. They don't look fancy like car systems do though.
I had a Pioneer head in my pete doing oilfield work for years with no issues.
Truck system was amazing. 2 5x7 and 2 6 1/2 in the cab. 2 5x7 and 2 6x9 in the sleeper. Dual 1500w amps with capacitors and a 10" on the drivers side and a 12" on the passenger. -
Cottonmouth85 Thanks this.

They were built into ported boxes hidden in the closets of the Pete sleeper. My amps, capacitors and power inverter were mounted on a board and hidden under the bunk. A 12v ducted fan kept air flow to the compartment.
nofreetime Thanks this.
