It would be going in my daily driver that came factory radio delete. I plan to put an AM/FM radio in it soon but don't want to drill any holes in the body for an antenna. But I'm willing to use my 102 whip to bring in a few radio channels.
Figured one of these might work and thought I'd ask to see if anyone's tried one? Thanks in advance.
Anyone ever try the FireStik Match-Maker CB/AM/FM, CB Antenna Splitter AR-1A?

But it will still allow you to get out like you normally do on the CB but pull in some radio stations...right?

I had poor luck with one of those a looong time ago but it did work. I found was poor on transmit and no wonder why, as the car radio antenna is far too short for efficient CB use and that little box has to try to make it up. For close range it is acceptable but I never got the usual 5 miles. More like 1-2. If you have no other choice it will work.
I used to do the CB installs when I woked at a car stereo shop in the late 70's. We carried them and the boss pushed them but I always hated them because about half the time the customer would return and complain they were not getting out very far.
Never run anything but a stock radio through them.. don't ask!
Always use the supplied (usually insulated) tool. A metal tool will cause the tuning to be wrong when withdrawn. -
My understanding is this box is supposed to allow you to take a CB antenna and use it both on a CB AND a car radio.
Unless of course if it allows you to do it the other way and instead use your car antenna as a CB antenna...which i could clearly understand it being not useable on CB. -
I understand about the resonance of an antenna and the importance of height, etc.
Let me make this as simple as I can....
I have a 102 whip. I have a mobile CB. I plan to use them together.
I also want to use the 102 as a car radio antenna for the 88-108 mHz band.
If I am not mistaken, this little gizmo looks like it allows you to take a 102 whip and not only use it to TX/RX on a CB radio, but at the same time it can also be used to RX on your car radio.
Hopefully I've made this clear as mud. -
Well channel jumper, the idea I had in mind was to have one antenna on my truck, a 102 whip, and use it to run both the CB and the car radio.
My understanding was on CB it would work fine and allow the CB to work at full potential, while also allowing the antenna to pick up radio stations.
I think what some of you were thinking is I wanted to use the factory antenna on the fender to send out my CB signals and bring in car radio signals. (1.) No I was not planning this because I already know a car antenna cannot be used on CB reliably and (2.) there is no antenna on my fender because the truck came from the factory without a radio.
My only reason for using a 102 whip to send out CB signals and bring in music signals is because I wanted to just have one antenna only to do both, if possible, and also because i do not want to put a hole in the fender for an antenna.
Pictured below is what I am working with. You can see the 102 a top the light bar. Again my goal was to be able to use the 102 on top of the light bar to reliably send out CB radio signals and bring in radio stations with music.Attached Files:

Turbo-T, to give you a real world answer to your question, 1/4 wave cb antennas make great AM/FM stereo antennas. Much better than any factory antenna that I've seen. I base this on using a couple of different antennas on my passenger side mirror for AM/FM reception for the last couple of years/couple hundred thousand miles. I don't have any experience with that splitter, but it seems like the worst thing that could happen is that it won't be worth a crap and you have to get a manually-switched splitter box instead.
You might also consider something like this. I used something similar on an old Studebaker I used to drive and didn't want to mount an external antenna on, and it worked pretty well.
