anyone ever deliver to a prison ?

I haven't, and I wonder if big trucks even go in to prisons.

 

Never delivered to a prison, but did have to clean out a lift station at one when I was a Vactor operator. For an all male prison, the sheer amount of condoms was STAGGERING!!!

 

Oh yeah they do, depends on the prison, ive had a basic gate opens drive in , gate closes. Check the truck, check your id, put prison padlocks on anything you dont need and lock your pass door for you. Open inner gate in ya go. Same thing on the way out. Then theres max prisons. Appt. Time, no more or less than 20 min off that time, only one non prison truck at a time on property, (you have to wait? Then you wait) same basic in procedure except the armed gaurd riding on your pass step. Then when you leave you go to the gate, get out, look up at the watch tower, he asks "are you in need of assitance?" You say no, back in the truck for check out. (The getting out is mandatory, gives you the opp, to get away if somehow there was a inmate in the truck threating you.

 

I've delivered to a state prison and a federal prison. The federal prison would suprise you. Lots of freedom there. But really it's no big deal. The inmates unload you, and they're always the best behaved ones. Just lock your doors and don't give the CO's a hard time about searching you.

 

I did, twice, hauled two flat bed loads of sack cement to a prison south of Pine Bluff in the mid-70's. The loads were about 2 to 4 months apart.

 

when i worked at nj prison sysco delivered every day

 

I delivered some power tools to a prison in NY just last week...

 

I delivered meat to prisons, no big deal, easier than delivery to a military base commissary.
