Looking for a starter truck to haul fuel and Ryder seems to be a descent place to get one from... 99% of their trucks are Columbias and cascadias and every one of them has maintenance records since they were leases and always maintained there..And the prices seem fair.. Anyone ever buy a truck from them?? What's your experience??

Buying an used truck is a gamble. A driver I know got a truck from Ryder and had 400k trouble free miles, another dude bought last week a truck from an old sweet owner operator with 400k. This week his engine was taken apart and needs 17k in repairs... I would say go ahead if the truck checks out

you never know but Ryder is big company so they regularly check their trucks and do inspections like in big companies. It's a big plus. However they got high prices even for pre-owned trucks

I bought a single axle day cab from Ryder. No problems just the normal stuff. For a plain Jane work truck they have good trucks at decent prices

We purchased a 2007 Columbia, all bells and whistles, 3 yrs ago with 600k Km, now has 1.25m Km.

Rebuilt transmission (bearing noise), X-Y shifter, Power steering box and pump, alternator and water pump.. Probably could of got off cheaper with repairs, but my logic is fix it right the first time or fix it on the roadside ($$$$).

Oil samples are still coming back as A1. She pulls the mountains of BC Canada every day..

If you buy Ryder and Penski I thank they have 30 day warranty. If you take a good mechanic and have a needs repair list they will frequently repair most of the defects prepickup. There are lease and rental units, look to buy lease trucks. Look for the truck that a company needed because they needed it to support their business, not because trucking is their business. Interior will tell 75% but they tend to genie pig new products for manufactures, watch out for those.
