Anyone else buy additional vehicles to keep at their terminals?

When I visit a terminal in another state, they have one or two vehicles that we can borrow for a little while and they are always in high demand. I was thinking of buying some cheap used cars to place at these terminals so while I am there I can take care of a lot of things and have a lot of fun. I never seen anyone do this and was curious if there are others out there. Then again, I know most people spend every penny that they make so they are broke, but I make good money since I still earn a lot from my websites from before I became a trucker.

If I were to do that, I would buy motorscooters. Probably could get away without buying insurance also. Didn't you once post you do day-trading? My wife does that on the Shanghai Stock Exchange; does exceptionally well.

Yes I did day trading back when it was predictable. It may be back to normal now, afraid to look at it after the collapse. Luckily I took all of my money out a couple weeks before every stock took a 50% dip in 2008. I thought about a motorscooter but I would like a car to do grocery shopping.

Yes, I keep an old jeep, nice to have it. When I'm not there some others use it locally to keep it running. And I'm not broke, co. driver doing ok, everything is paid off including that old jeep.

i wouldn't trust ANY place to park my car that i won't be seeing untill who knows when. you just might come back with a broken windshield.

and most places WON'T be responsible for damaged vehicles. you park at your own risk.

unless you plan on taking extended time off. you can buy some type of scooter or moped you can pack around and only have ONE vehicle at your disposal.

The terminals are fenced in with keycoded access and there are always people walking around. Even if someone breaks a windshield I will just have someone come by and replace it. Another reason I do not want a scooter is because every major city has a bad area and I don't want to ride through the ghetto in a scooter to get to where I am going.

When we were company drivers for USX they had secured parking at most of the terminals. We considered this but the issue with having to register each vehicle and get emissions done annually on each just seemed like a pain. We have family in most of the places we stop and we use hotwire to rent cars a lot cheaper than owning a vehicle somewhere other than where you want to use it.

Yeah the emissions and registration is the only reason why I haven't done this already. Then again I only need one time out of the year to take care of it. Heck since these cars are throwaways I may just pay someone to take care of that for me.
