I've had to source used parts due to national back order on some freightliner parts.
Shops all packed all the time, where ever I go.

Drivers I talked to I hear similar stories.
Worst are the one with big big payments that was breakdowns and can't source parts for long period and have to give up the truck.

It's not getting better. There are cities, 17 million, in China that primarily manufactur that have been shut due to covid spread. That's a big disruption. 1.5 months out a year.

Kenworth service is absolute garbage. Everytime I've talked to a KW shop they always say #### like they won't be able to even look at your truck for a few days. It's especially bad OTR in states like Nebraska, they have plenty of business and give 0 ####s about otr drivers headed through.
I was in Wyoming and had a nox sensor go out, all the KW shops in nearly 1000 mile radius said blow so I called Peterbuilt in Rock Springs, WY and they got me right in and out in like 3 hours.

This is why I started doing doing my own annual inspections this year. The wait times, prices and poor work quality have pushed me over the edge. Even sat down and made up my own company forms for it. My work is much more thorough and convenient too.

Good idea! That is one form I have not created yet!

I am very fortunate I guess. My 1988 Pete/Cummins rarely needs anything and when it does I either already have it on a shelf or I can find it kinda easy.

Now my 2 go to shops on the other hand.....slammed all of the time always and forever it seems!

But I communicate with them a lot and sneak in when they say they have a open bay. Even if I have nothing serious going on I'll still just go in and get grease and inspect everything.

With a 40% US market share it's not surprising Freightliner is struggling with supply considering everything. Freightliner shop times have been atrocious for at least 10 years. Seems like the other manufacturers are getting worse with their dealer service times. I purchase whatever manufacturer has the best shops around me. Every truck breaks down and being down costs more than anything.

I haven't had any problems with parts personally. Have a good relationship with my local shop and they get me in when they probably shouldn't. I have to wait sometimes too. Forced vacation isn't always bad.

Too bad it's hard to find anyone to work because if you open a truck shop there will be business. My shop had to drop night shift for a month because they had no one to work recently.

Company Cascadia, struck by another truck backing in along side last December.

Body shop fixed everything but had to 'glue' the grill back together so we could work the truck while the new grill comes in.

    We ae still waiting

I ordered front brake drums back in October 2021 for the 2005 Freightliner. I’m told they’re on national back order.

The pads and hardware arrived right next day after it was ordered.

The drums arrived today, several months later.

I can order rear and trailer drums and have them next day as well. But not the front.

Likely the rear drums would be next.
