Same setup i have...the TV has been through it too and still going strong.
I use a 500 watt inverter so i can run the tv,laptop and phone charger from it.
My big inverter runs my fridge and microwave.
Anybody has bought a tv Flatscreen for their Semi?

I work at Kmart now and we have TV's dirt cheap all the time. any cheap tv is gonna last a while in a truck to do the way they are constructed. so by a small LED tv uses minimal power and a cheap inverter and your set.

I always store my laptop on the mattress when driving to minimize vibrations. I'd think if you laid the TV down on a towel/coat/mattress while driving it would last longer. Electronics don't like the vibrations so much and will weaken them. WalMart has this TV for $128. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vizio-19-Class-LED-LCD-720p-60Hz-HDTV-1.2-ultra-slim-E191VA/20461471 The Data Sheet says it is under 20 Watts to run it. So, as the other poster noted, you can have a cheap inverter that plugs into the 12v plug then run this thing.
Get the $10 antenna. I know it works for 23 channels in Tulsa. Probably won't get any TV out in the boonies tho unless you have DirectTV or Dish. (oh the good ol' days...) http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-UHF-VHF-Digital-Indoor-Antenna/20976672
You need an inverter too? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-XI14-Power-Inverter/15140199
What is that,,,$168 plus tax total?, and WalMart's all over to take it back too when/if it doesn't last so long. I'd think this is better than anything in the Truck Stops. I don't see 12v DC TV's any more at WalMart, so I'd really, really be leery of one from a truck stop. Plus, this is cheaper, right?DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
Got my 19'' flat screen from Best Buy (TV/DVD Combo) on sale $169.99. Just plug it into my 12volt inverter. works great....

I bought mine at Walmart years ago....... I would wrap mine in blanket and leave on bed. Kinda pain in but to hook up each time I stopped but its was worth it in long run not stressing bout it mite fall from shelf..

My favorite subject,
I got a 32" RCA that uses less than 100 watts from a K-Marts thats so thin it fits perfectly against the wall of the sleeper. Its great, didn't cost that much, and has been working fine for over the past year and a half that I have had it. Get a good, really good, Digital anntenna, and you'll be all set to watch what ever you want to watch.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
U are right about the digital antenna that is flat and takes up little room and works great.

Store it in the tv cubby with two pillows around it and the strap holding it from falling out.
