Hey! New here. Are there any trucking companies in Ontario that pay for training if you sign on for a year with them?

There used to be a program through the government called Second Careers. I just googled it, apparently it is now called Better Jobs Ontario. A friend of mine did the program back in 2014 I think, and it went well.

I got paid for my training at Gardewine. I don't really think they're the best outfit to drive for, but if they pay then other companies should as well.

GFL will pay for your training. I also heard that Gordon Food Service will as well if you talk to their fleet management team.
However, as with most companies that pay for your training. You will be forced to work for them for a certain amount of time (1-3 years) for them to re-coop their cost or else they will charge you for whatever the schooling cost is.
My suggestion is to use a government program that funds secondary education/trades and those ones will subsidize the cost heavily. Don't lock yourself to a company, they will 100% try to take as much advantage of you as possible so do whatever you can take to fund your training in other ways.Another Canadian driver and Adrian McFarlane Thank this. -
Bison and maybe Manitoulin.

‘Govt funded programs will pick up the whole cost. Many of those taking advantage of those courses are just trying to extend their EI or maintain their welfare benefits. Im not aware of any company in NW Ontario who offers a course. Maybe in the banana belt
