We are a dump truck fleet. All we own are Allison automatics and 8LLs.
Has anybody had either good or bad experiences with the Volvo I-shift?
Thanks!

I drove in a truck with one (670) for about 60k miles- never a problem.
To be honest it was great. At 70-80k gross all the time we were 8.6mpg if I remember right

Mainly dealt with them behind d13 engine. They have their problems like anything. They are hard on clutch springs. The input shaft bearing goes. The gear speed sensor harness (ribbon harness) is another issue. Range hubs. Mainly have these problems once get up around the 600k km mark. Volvo usually sell them with pretty high mileage warranty though. around 800 000km if I remember rightly.

I-shift is awesome. I'm completely spoiled with my VNL780. D-13 is powerful and pulls really good. Very strong jake too. Very safe truck. Drove a ten speed kenworth before it. I'll never touch another kenworth. Kenworth is satan compared to volvo.
