Every now and again, I will see a race team truck driving down the highway. Those trucks are ALWAYS so clean. ALWAYS!! What does it take to get a job driving for a race team and what is the pay, schedule, and home time like?? What are your duties when you are at a race event and not driving? Please shoot out some of the Pros and Cons as well Thanks!!
Any race team truck drivers out there??

From what I hear it has really good benefits and by benefits I mean you get hooked up with women, food drinks, tickets, etc etc. but i also hear that home time sucks especially during the season where you're driving from one state to another constantly to get there on time. There is a post on here same questioned was asked couple years ago. And some guy hauled for a music band and that's what he mentioned.

Try these folks driver. They wanted to hire me a couple of years ago but I was not ready to go over the road again yet.

Race car haulers are not your typical steering wheel holders. They are responsible for servicing/upkeep of the team's heavy equipment. They do a LOT of extra work at the track and in between races. The race schedule is from Feb to Nov with only 2 weekends off.

Have you done this type of work??

I had Champion call me about applying, when they told me the pay, I respectfully said "NO THANKS."

1. It helps to know someone and have racing in your background and a good driving record. You're driving $1,000,000 worth of equipment, Supertruckers need not apply.
2. You'd better live near the race shop.
3. You may have to help cook, clean, help organize the trailer. Whatever needs to be done, AND keep the truck clean.
4. You'll team drive.
5. You have to be good with people.Rick Brown Thanks this. -
No I never have but I've read a few articles about it. SHO-TYME is pretty much spot on probably the biggest thing would be knowing someone to get a foot in the door. I don't think 90% or better of your everyday truckers out here could handle the job. It's like owner operating. Driving a cool truck is only a very small part of the job. Really probably the only break those guys get. I know that's true for me.
truckon and Rick Brown Thank this.
