I live in austin and have been searching high and low to get back in a fuel tanker. I have a year experience hauling fuel and about 4 years commercial TT total. I know I can go to south tx and get a job in the oil field but I'm avoiding it because I have a young family and I'm established here. I don't want to relocate me and my family. I've applied with a lot of the local fuel company's but haven't had any luck because no one is hiring. Any info will be helpful. My main concern is being home daily and of course decent pay. Thanks in advance.
Any local fuel company's hiring in Austin, TX area?

Check out Coastal Transport out of San Antonio. There is a yard in Austin that has a few drivers. I'm pretty sure we're hiring system wide. I started out with 4.5 years TT experience with no tank and they hired me no problem. Shouldn't be too hard with a year tank to get right on.

That's who I worked for before. I know the terminal manager real well. I already talked to him the other day and he said he would hire me back in a second if he could. They hired quite a few new drivers about 3 weeks ago and he isn't allowed to bring anyone else on yet.

Ahhh.. gotcha. I know they aren't getting enough applicants in Fort Worth for sure.. only hired 3 in the last 2 months so I was assuming based on rumor that all the other terminals were the same. I just finished san antonio orientation and we only had 1 person from Austin this week, and they haven't run a class since i've been there.. 3 weeks now. Knowing that, it's surprising there weren't more.

O ok. Did you have orientation with boyd? Im not sure if he's still the safety officer or not. Its been years since i was down there.

No I was with Raul. Boyd is still there as he was mentioned in a story I just don't remember what region Raul said he was in.
