I like newer houses but even a really big house has the standard two car width driveway. My semi blocks my garage so if I buy another house I hope the driveway is wide enough for my semy and car to get through. I may just pay to have it widened. I was wondering if you guys have done this or if you can even fit your whole tractor and trailer in your yard? In the future I may even get a large garage for my bobtail to park in and no one will know if I am home or not![]()
Any homeowners with a large driveway for their truck?

I have an angled driveway. From the air, I would say the front property line and the driveway is in the shape of an eye. I have plenty of room for a tractor trailer. Maybe 200'. I didn't know until after the fact, but a truck driver owned this house before me.

Move out to the country,
with some acreage,
that is properly ZONED !!! -
I got 2 acres with a driveway that is currently 30 ft wide by 120 ft long. Plenty of room for my truck/trailer, the wife's car, my tool/parts shed, and any other vehicles that stop by. The added bonus is the base of the driveway is about 14 inches deep with a fiber cloth underneath to keep the rock from pushing into the soil. In a couple of months the drive is getting lengthened to the rear of our property (about another 100 ft) and the moutn of it is getting a make over to shore up the ditch banks. I have never owned my truck and not been able to park it at my home. I feel it is a safety, security, and maintance issue if it isn't at my home.

I have a three car garage, so technicaly I could park the bobtail at home. However, the HOA would be knocking on the door within minutes. I therefore park 30 miles away in a semi-secure lot that runs $150/month. The joys of city life.

I park my rig at a vacant business a block away.police dept helped me find a spot close by

Unless you live in the country (or inner-city/ghetto) most homeowners groups wouldnt allow you to park at your house....I have a storage facility couple of miles away that I pay $100 month...it has a keypad gate but they claim no responsibility if your truck is broken into

I'm looking to sell my current home to buy a few acres and a smaller house to put a 24'X48' shop on. I'd like to have a semi-circle drive that I can pull onto and off of so I don't have to worry about blocking traffic backing in. I'd like to make it wide enough that I can back the tractor past the dropped trailer into the shop.
At my current house, while the neighbors would take no offense to my tractor being parked there, the streets are too narrow to turn around bobtail, and there are too many low branches overhanging the street to really make it worth the effort. I just park the truck and trailer at the road ranger outside of town and walk home 2 miles or so.
The CDL school I went to is only 1/2 a mile from my house, so if I'm just swinging by the house for something, the instructors are fine with me parking there for a few hours as long as I give the green horns a bit of encouragement and practical advice.
