Interested in obtaining a CDL A for a potential career change and found a nearby school that offers training & testing (CDL Truck Driving School (Asheville, NC) - TransTech CDL School). Tuition runs $2,750 for an 8-weekend Sat & Sun course. Does anyone have any experience with this school? Thanks.
Any experiences with TransTech in Asheville, NC?

What type trucking job do you want?_High_Plains_Drifter_ Thanks this. -
I'm a single guy, early 30s with no kids. Not sure what kind of opportunities would be available post-schooling with no other trucking experience but I'm hoping it would afford me some currency to avoid the mega carrier slave driver grind I hear about on the forums, Smart Trucking channel, etc. Income now is in the $50k's, ready for a change, want to hit the ground running and go all in if I ultimately decide to pursue trucking. I hope with the right approach it'll be realistic to pull roughly the same the first year and work up from there.
Wouldn't mind being out for a few days at a time seeing the country but could see local/home daily being the eventual goal. I've seen a few log and feed hauling job postings around NC that sound like something I could enjoy... More rural industry type stuff out in the country and less dealing with city driving & traffic. Seems like those types of gigs involve dealing with the loads out of the seat a bit more. A little physical activity and variation to the day is a plus in my book. Not opposed to the tanker route down the road if it's fairly lucrative.Chinatown Thanks this. -
You can make a lot more than $50K as a trucker.

TriBike Transport (TBT), a small, yet highly specialized logistics company, is seeking qualified drivers to pick up and transport bicycles to triathlons and other cycling events throughout the US and North America.
TBT Drivers are not required to have a CDL, but must comply with all USDOT regulations. TBT Drivers must demonstrate an ability to safely drive a truck ranging in size from a 15-foot van with a loading ramp, to a 26-foot straight truck with a lift gate. TBT will train all drivers regardless of experience on both DOT regulations and internal policies and procedures.
TBT Drivers are responsible for pickups and deliveries in a designated geographic area. Pickups are made at local bike shops and drivers routinely interact with local shop employees as a part of their job. In most cases drivers will be on the road for 3-10 days at a time. At any given time, a driver will be responsible for multiple bikes destined for multiple events throughout the U.S. On occasion, drivers may be asked to attend an event to assist in on-site event activation._High_Plains_Drifter_ Thanks this. -
